JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

The main issue of JF-17 is its engine......but we love .......the some of out of it........

RD-33 smoke gives us mental peace :drag:

lol...

:partay:

Hi,

Engine is not an issue---. The real issue is electronics---the real issue if the weapons---the real issue is reliability---and for these items---the results are pretty good---.

Well engine has no issue..........in electronic category only........HMD is missing......
The result are good .......I know ......but not compared to sukhois and rafales.......we need to get to their level.......thats all.

Adios!

People on this forum don't usually get the idea of block 3 upgrade. It's not much of a change on the surface but it lets us absorb the 4th gen technology and merge it with our experience with other types and lessens our dependance on our foreign partners for this program. It also provides us with a platform that we can use to integrate any new subsystem in future be it from east or the west so in a way we can partner with other suppliers for future upgrades as well.

Gripen was marketed to Brazil and Switzerland way before the first flight.
JF-17 may be a solution for Pakistan, but in many countries it will fail,
simply because it is incompatible with either this or that.

The Chinese are offering their own "ecosystem" of sensors and compatible munitions, so for nations that are not aligned with NATO or unable to afford Western aircraft, the JF-17 represents a very realistic choice. It's also not unheard of for countries to use datalinks and weapons systems from different nations or blocs (Egypt and Turkey come to mind).

Sir at the moment it's AESA radar and structural changes and new data link, which is being worked upon.
May be a new MFD and new position for joy stick may be on cards.

unbelievable !

they built 50 x JF17 Block II inside 3 years

break neck speed, all advantage in time has been lost due to silly delay on JF17

someone needs court marshal

this is totally unacceptable

B3 should have commenced end of this year so in 2019 we built 16 units followed by another 16 and 18 in 2021

all 50 delivered in 3 years

this sucks

Blk3 entered preliminary design stage only towards the end of last year, in Chengdu.

What do you expect from them? Are you gonna court martial those poor engineers? Even Chinese companies have limitations.

This aircraft isn't such a huge priority to Chengdu that they'd enter the design stage while being busy with Blk2 components and structures production.

countries interested in thunder wont buy gripne and vice versa

the only exception if rumours are to be true is malaysia

I believe the only rumour that is true is that Pakistan wants to sell JF-17 to Malaysia.
Malaysia government denied beeing interested the last time in 2015.
I have not heard of any real interest since then.
Malaysia is in conflict with China, and there is too much dependency on China in JF-17.

Well rafael deliveries will start in 2019 and it will take till 2023 to complete the deliveries .. So yes starting production in 2021 will do nicely .

I hope they build b version or upgrade the existing with aesa in interim period... Preferably both simultaneously... Especially after coming under heavy fire on pdf

Hi,

No it won't---. Rafale is already a mature platform---.

The JF17 BLK3 would have to go thru total integration---which might put it another 5-8 years behind schedule---.

Actually its not behind the schedule one .. Its behind our understanding of schedule .. and secondly upgrading block 2 with aesa will put them Mostly in par with rafael any ways

Hi,

If that is what your understanding is---then it is a sorry state of affairs---.

Aesa isnot the only equalizer---.

and for this current aesa to mature and integrate---will take around 5 years plus---.
