Any chance Block 3 would be unveiled today? Is there a 6th September parade happening? Can we expect to see the new block 3 unveiled?
I hope so!? They definitely and certainly have some block 3s ready & flying by now!?
 
PAC has weird internal serial numbers for the production line aircraft(or overhaul for that matter) , once they’re complete, they get a PAF reg which makes numerical sense.

The idiot kept pushing the dual seater as some new thing. We have see Block 2B variants before on TV. But completely missed the Block 3, which even the Flt Lt., stated was standing right there. Hosts like these have such a cringe factor. What a waste of of such a greater opportunity.

When one of the flt officers said I am from Quetta, the only thing the idiot could say was "you dont look like you are from Quetta...you look Lahori". Instead of taking this as a small opportunity to give a message of unity, the idiot gave a strange ethnic exclusionary joke. Basically saying Quetta is for people who dont look like you.

Then what was up with the fake Ray Ban's throughout the program. Cringe!!

Wonder what radar is selected. The Italian AESA or the air cooled Chinese AESA or the more expensive and powerful liquid cooled one?

Dazzler said a hybrid of the liquid and air cooled one so it is a third type of options from Chinese?

More hardpoints? How is that going to fit? Will it just be hardpoint compatible with two or three rack pylon? Too much stress for engine otherwise I think. The carrying capacity increase should only be done by using one fuel tank rather than two or three. And use the wing fuel tanks for missiles since BVR is the main purpose anyway it can fire off the BVR missiles in closer ranges and the fuel is more than enough to stay around to guide the missiles until active seeking.

Anyway woo hoo this fighter is being produced. If it has decent AESA and with PL-15 and PL-10 with range extended from more internal fuel tanks with no loss in electronics, it should be like a much cheaper equivalent of Gripen NG with Meteor. Finally with new missiles and AESA radar the two most important aspect of bringing 4th generation to modern 4.5 generation. For the price of one Gripen NG, PAF can probably get three equipped JF-17 Block 3. Also it is build by Pakistan and PAC has all the technology involved in at least building the aircraft which buying will never offer.

Hope it achieves some greater security for Pakistan without damaging the budget.

KLJ-7A AESA radar has been selected, we’ve know that for a few years now. Cooling systems can be changed as needed. Owing to size and costs constraints they’ve gone with a hybrid cooling system.

The Extra hardpoint is under the fuselage, opposite to the Cannon. It’s present on all block 3s and will be added to block 2B. It’s a dedicated hardpoint for carrying targeting and EW pods as found on other modern fighters so they do not take up a hardpoint where weapons or fuel can be carried. We’ve already seen the hardpoint on block 3s

Are you saying that the data cables pass through the fuel tank ?

And supposedly this compartment is then filled with fuel ?
Fuel tanks do exist behind the green "panels".

The access door below the canopy root clearly shows a fuel pipe (yellow) connecting the mid section fuel tank with the fuel tank below the canopy (Pic # 2).

There will be no access doors on green shaded area.

Fuel tanks are vacant sealed cavities where fuel can be stored. Usually other components are not positioned inside these cavities except those related to fuel transfer and fuel flow/level sensors. If data cables, electrical wires are to pass through these tanks, these are insulated inside sealed tubings routed across the fuel tank compartment.

Generally this type of arrangement which we observe on JF-17 can rarely be seen on other aircraft. JF-17 being a small aircraft fitted with most modern packages installed, need smart use of space not only catering space for these components, wires, cables, connecting fuel tubings but also for sufficient amount of fuel to have optimum combat range. Above all of this, aircraft CG (shifting with the fuel consumption) is also being catered

Jf-17 is no doubt a gem model of engineering solutions!!!!!

PS: For those of our respected members who think fuel tanks should not be located on the side of the cockpit, as this arrangement will endanger pilots' safety, I will add here that fuel in these compartments is being used in the initial phase ie taxiing, TO and so on. Complete fuel and its vapours in these compartments can be sucked while transferring the fuel to main tank. Please also note that there are aircraft having fuel tanks located just behind the pilot's seat!!!!.

If this photo is not a photo shopped pic than the IFR is directly connected to fuel compartment below the canopy. The opened panel in between mid section fuel compartment and fuel compartment below canopy, shown in Pic # 2 of my previous post, clearly reveals that the connecting tube is connecting mid section fuel tank to the fuel compartment located below the canopy.

Please note that my inference is based only on the pic evidence.

Engineers and technicians working on the aircraft must have actual technical info.

If the PAC engineer says that green shaded area shows where fuel is being stored, then it should be taken as fact instead of adding a venn diagram justifying the logic which we believe, unless the respected member is part of tech team working in JF-17 or closely affiliated with the JF-17 aircraft ie have actual tech info.
