JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

Thy are just fooling Indians, BLK 3 is already in use, AESA radar and PL15 already installed on JFTs blk3 not many but I gss just sqdrn
While SU 35S still been tested In China and J31S still under studies

No we desparately needs JF17-III as India is trying to get Rafle quickly.
No they never get anything quickly...they will likely get the first 6 this year and take 6 years to complete their full order. It will take time to get used to the plane and use it effectively so 2-3 years for the first squadron to be formed and training etc.

The JF-17 has proven itself in Combat and the world knows it. The design is improving incrementally on all technical parameters, but there is one area the jet doesn't seem to have changed much. The canopy seems to be limiting visibility of the pilot and its doesn't create the sleek lines that will impress at arms shows. Impressing potential foreign customers, and is one of the reasons people love the F-16 so much.

A Design the Jf-17 Block III team should study is the failed Novi Avion from Yugoslavia. Its canopy is modeled after early Rafale designs (with help from Dassault if I remember correctly).

Pakistan should consider adopting this design element, and it would really make the JF-17 stand out even more so.

Kelly Johnson of Lockeed's Skunk Works had a thing or two to say about aircraft design.

Hi,

Side and rear mounted cameras and sensors are a better and cheaper solution---. F16 type canopy is not needed in modern aircraft anymore---

In the middle of war environment between Pakistan and India,Chinese foreign minister came on special mission(not just shaking hands). Western websites say it was some package from Chine to Pakistan to combat common enemy, India.
Guess what package??
It MUST be some arms to combat India with better technology on earth and air.??

Hi,

As trhe chinese have not made any statements openly---which means thay are totally ecstatic about the JF17---the weapons it used and the datab link compatibiity and usage in the air battle arena---.

I can guarantee that the chinese are totally ecstatic at the results---that they are having an extremely hard time containing themselves---.

In the recent dogfight over the mountains, technology(electronics) and tactics have taken a lead over machine and maneuverability

Hi,

That is what I stated---and that is what endorsed what I stated by Air Marshal Latif's comments---"in some areas the F16 is superior---in other areas---the JF17 is superior---".

Being the top F16 pilot of his time---it would be very difficult for him to down play the F16---and being the father of the JF17---it would be next to impossible for him to keep the JF17 down and talk about all its assets---.

It would not take very long for the Chinese team to install AESA on an old JF 17 squadron and hook them up with Pl15s in a wartime situation

Hi,

Thank you---. It does not work that way---it would be extremely difficult for a pilot using non aesa to switch over to aesa just like that---.

The usage and operation is very time consuming---.

even if its plug and play, the parameters won't be same , why people are taking this AESA as Halwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :hitwall:

How about that, there could be pilots who have been deputed on other AESA platforms, specially when the source supplying various AESAs is the same. You never know

Slightly off topic...but I personally like that route BD took of heavily focusing on improving GDP first...

If it was up to me to run Pak...I would just give a straight and simple message to India "if India invades Pak...the very first response would be nukes...no warnings would be given nor any negotiations...so mind ur own business and we'll mind ours"...and it wouldn't be a bluff

Then I would focus fully on improving the economy in every way possible. After a decade of heavily focusing on the economy then I would shift gears to heavily modernizing the armed forces(with increased budget due to an improved economy) to bring back conventional minimum deterrence capabilities at the very least. Only with a strong economy can Pak try to keep up with India.
Economy + Education I would add.

Hi,

It does not work that way---. It is not like jumping from a toyota camry to a toyota corolla---.

Wish it was that easy---. Remember Chuck Yeager---" The best pilots fly more than the others ".

The best pilot has the shape of his ar-se imprinted on the seat---.

Today Chinese defence industry engineers are master , Godfather to do ,change, upgrade, install, whatever they want to do..They know much more than most of us.
Today Indian are researching deep on all movements of China and Pakistan. Indians just said that they can manage Chinese J-10C and missiles PL-15 ..Which mean that Chinese team can install AESA on an old JF 17 squadron and hook them up with PL-15 .
After the visit of Chinese foreign minister , So far Chinese media did not refuted the news of J-15C and PL 15 to Pakistan.
May be Forum senior army officers and Mr. Rafi can review the news.

While matching the F-16 was the initial goal, looking at the advancements made by the Swedes on their Gripen fighter would be a more apt fighter to try to match. This is best seen with their separation of flight software from combat software, and the quick software upgrades they can make. (These upgrades are happening on a nearly weekly basis if needed, while not creating bugs in the flight software)

Also, while on the Gripen, The canopy need not be a bubble canopy, but the JF-17's dorsal "spine" needs a redesign to improve visibility and effectively achieve the same result a bubble canopy would.

(btw, moving the wheels further outboard, as in the Gripen NG would also be a good design element for the JF-17 to copy for a number of reasons)
