Jesus won’t save you — President Xi Jinping will, Chinese Christians told

Don't think that Chinese people love Xi Jinping like a god, thats not reality, no one thinks he is god status.
God does not imprison people. Men do. So it is irrelevant to argue that route. As far as Xi goes, he does not seek the Chinese people's love but only their obedience, and with the might of the PLA behind him, he gets what he wants.

Many people that convert to Christianity in rural China or poor urban do so because of hardships of they went through (especially in early economic reform period), as a relief of burden of their struggles.
Considering poverty was the raison d'etre for the communists and what they used to rally the people behind them, now that the poor have seen how communism failed them, they turned to religion as a form of psychological and emotional salvation, the ( false ) communists seeks to deny them that respite from their daily misery that the communists brought on in the first place.

That has nothing to do with democracy.

Ballads ? What next, his penis size ?

As I am an immigrant to the US, my first US President was Jimmy Carter. But ever since, I have NEVER seen any US president got himself plastered on the side of a building like Xi or Mao has. Are Chinese going to start the way of the North Koreans where everyone near Xi has to carry small notebooks and jot down everything he say ? Not beyond the realm of probability, pal.

Looky here...It seems to me that as a people, you Chinese are no different than the Indians you sneered down at. That you are no more sophisticated or no less vulnerable to idolatry and superstitions. And as far as your government goes, in the absence of an alternative, idolatry of a man is all you got and that you must make the people obey.

you are wrong about the alternatives in China. Xi did not come to his position without a fight, or shall we call it competition or power struggle? You see, the political competition can be in the form of multi party or single party, and the fittest survives in either system. I don't know why you have a such devotion to the perception that the western democracy is the one and only right form of politics. For me, whatever makes China stronger and unified is the fittest form of governance. I am happy the direction China is going under current government.

Chinese are not Indians, we don't give a shit about religion or caste or vote bank or party. We support whoever keeps promise and delivers beef. Xi did just that. :enjoy:

I agree. You have to be princeling to be president of China, whereas Modi is from humble background.

You have family dynasty for the good part of your independence, so you should let us try how it feels to have a "princeling" as a leader, as ALL of Chinese leaders were from "humble background" in the past 68 years. :partay:

It is not question of "princeling". Xi would never have risen in Indian politics. You have to get vote to become a law maker.

Am sure Xi did have his struggles, but in the West, what Xi went thru, the people have a say -- elections. That is why I believe our democracy is the 'only right form of politics'.

And please do not go on about how there are only Republican and Democrat parties. If you go there, I will embarrass you about your ignorance of Political Science 101.

Soviets did it same way.

They made school children hungry, and then they asked them to pray God for food.

When God couldn't give them food immediately Soviets gave them bread saying good doesn't exist and state is god

LOL. Another PIDOOMA.

Good point! I guess this is the reason that China is so much different from India.

I don't think that is real difference. The difference is China started its reforms in 1979, while India started its reforms in 1991. China was ruled by CPC before 1979, and was poorer than India before that.

When you look at current affair, you may realize that "Political Science 101" may not be a science after all.

China may have been poorer than India before, but India will never be as rich as China today. You still have no idea what sets China and India apart, I guess you will never figure it out.

I have to admit, with the election of Donald Trump, my belief in democracy is somewhat restored. This guy may actually be willing to cut down the empire and focus on domestic issues.

Then let us see what you know.

Why are there Republican and Democrat parties ?

What make multi-parties parliaments possible in Europe but not in the US ?

No, there is much fun to do that. After 2000 election, I am done with this BS.

That is a big prediction. Anyway, I think, by 2050 India should have more than 500 million people than China does with considerable number of people younger than China's. I think anytime after 2060, India will over take China as the largest economy in the world .

Even Trump's most passionate supporters do not elevate him to the level the Chinese have elevated Xi.

How much of this idolatry is due to state compulsion versus from a personal religious desire to venerate anyone, even if it is a figure from this world ?

Have to disagree with you there, given that Trump is literally called 'god emperor' by his followers.

Mere few words of facts
