Jesus won’t save you — President Xi Jinping will, Chinese Christians told

Neither Jesus, nor Krishna or Mohamed or anybody would come to our help. So technically correct.

But belief is a belief. That's our brain. That's why we are humans. That's our right.

I am not a religious person but EVERYTHING you said here is -- wrong.

The Chinese government allows because it know it cannot resist, so better to allow and control than to face an underground movement that WILL be more dangerous in the long run.

Please...You got involved in reincarnation.

Religion should not be encouraged.

Religion should not be encouraged.
I am not a religious person, but it is undeniable that religious organizations are the most charitable compares to atheists. That is just one example of how religions and religious people affects daily lives.

There is a temple for Mao too.

If you remember the conversation between Mao and the American counter part, you might know what mao would give. Is that so?
Jesus or Allah or Yahweh demands absolute obedience. Communists leaders from Mao to Lenin to Castro are no different. How are they different from religious figures ? Because there are no people burning incense in front of their effigies ?

China WILL have something stronger than the Falun Gong to deal with.

Now he has received a hardwood homage with reports that senior Communist party officials have made a pilgrimage to a tree honouring their country’s increasingly supreme leader.

As the cadres, including the provincial party chief, Xie Fuzhan, gazed up at its branches on the morning of Sunday 5 November, “they were immersed in thought, filled with deep emotions”, a local propaganda report described.

“The tree is big, verdant and tall,” the author of the story gushed. “[Locals] warmly call it the Xi Paulownia tree.”
Was so with Mao, so it will be with Xi.

If they lose their faith... to someone...because of somthing... Then so be it... They will have lost their belief anyway at the first bump in their life...

.
So i guess they should encourage religion then which has always been the downfall of humanity.
tell me what has religion done for this world?Every single thing you're using today is made by an atheist thinker, anyone living under an Atheist state is always extremely smart, i have yet to see a dumb person who is an atheist here.

before you quote any dumb verse, let me tell you that everything you read about "oh look my book is scientific discovered 10000000 billion years ago so we are more scientific" can be found in any other religion's book because they're all MISINTERPRETED.
Lmfaooo what a joke, all those misinterpreted verses turning scientific everytime a scientist makes a new discovery.
absolute turds who believe in this hogwash.
When does your history book start? and who wrote it? let me read it...

Even Trump's most passionate supporters do not elevate him to the level the Chinese have elevated Xi.

How much of this idolatry is due to state compulsion versus from a personal religious desire to venerate anyone, even if it is a figure from this world ?

There are some force trying to promote cult of personality, and there are some force in China discouraging that. That is called democracy, pal. You just bit the bait too eagerly, so you are not an seasoned fish. :enjoy:

There is no comparison between Modi and Xi as being put here by Chinese. Modi has to fight election to come back. Xi usurped powers for himself, eliminating all opponents, and god know for how many years, he is going to rule China with his iron fist. Already he is comparing himself with God.

Modi would have made it to county level, had he been in China. He just doesn't cut it.

That has nothing to do with democracy.

Heartfelt ballads, emotive photos, action figurines - these are among an array of tools used by China's propaganda machinery to promote Chinese President Xi Jinping's image as a popular leader, a visionary thinker, a people's man and a loving family man.
Ballads ? What next, his penis size ?

As I am an immigrant to the US, my first US President was Jimmy Carter. But ever since, I have NEVER seen any US president got himself plastered on the side of a building like Xi or Mao has. Are Chinese going to start the way of the North Koreans where everyone near Xi has to carry small notebooks and jot down everything he say ? Not beyond the realm of probability, pal.

Looky here...It seems to me that as a people, you Chinese are no different than the Indians you sneered down at. That you are no more sophisticated or no less vulnerable to idolatry and superstitions. And as far as your government goes, in the absence of an alternative, idolatry of a man is all you got and that you must make the people obey.

I agree. You have to be princeling to be president of China, whereas Modi is from humble background.

The irony of religion is that because of its power to divert man to destructive courses, the world could actually come to an end. The plain fact is, religion must die for mankind to live. The hour is getting very late to be able to indulge in having in key decisions made by religious people. By irrationalists, by those who would steer the ship of state not by a compass, but by the equivalent of reading the entrails of a chicken. George Bush prayed a lot about Iraq, but he didn't learn a lot about it. Faith means making a virtue out of not thinking. It's nothing to brag about. And those who preach faith, and enable and elevate it are intellectual slaveholders, keeping mankind in a bondage to fantasy and nonsense that has spawned and justified so much lunacy and destruction. Religion is dangerous because it allows human beings who don't have all the answers to think that they do. Most people would think it's wonderful when someone says, "I'm willing, Lord! I'll do whatever you want me to do!" Except that since there are no gods actually talking to us, that void is filled in by people with their own corruptions and limitations and agendas. And anyone who tells you they know, they just know what happens when you die, I promise you, you don't. How can I be so sure? Because I don't know, and you do not possess mental powers that I do not. The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions is not the arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble, and that's what man needs to be, considering that human history is just a litany of getting shit dead wrong. This is why rational people, anti-religionists, must end their timidity and come out of the closet and assert themselves. And those who consider themselves only moderately religious really need to look in the mirror and realize that the solace and comfort that religion brings you actually comes at a terrible price. If you belonged to a political party or a social club that was tied to as much bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, violence, and sheer ignorance as religion is, you'd resign in protest. To do otherwise is to be an enabler, a mafia wife, for the true devils of extremism that draw their legitimacy from the billions of their fellow travelers. If the world does come to an end here, or wherever, or if it limps into the future, decimated by the effects of religion-inspired nuclear terrorism, let's remember what the real problem was that we learned how to precipitate mass death before we got past the neurological disorder of wishing for it. That's it. Grow up or die.

I have nothing against religion in terms of spirituality, it helps many people cope with tough times and find meaning. There is a reason religion exists in China and also a reason why a non-centralised version is unstable.

Political system
As I explained in earlier posts, China due to its constraints and design as an entity has a natural tendency to be very centralised, no matter the political system. It's not up to me to change, what people feel about it is not important. China must have a localised political entity with itself at the centre. China has nothing againt spiritual teachings of any religion, as long as it doesn't involve outside political influence. China's deal with the Vatican was to have a Chinese appointed bishop running the show in China, basically a Chinese pope. The ones who obey the Holy See have problems with the government and those that are loyal to the Chinese government do not have problems. Catholic-Protestant split, Sunni-Shia split. Any religion that becomes widely popular in China will become Chinese.
"love the country and love religion: politically, they should respect the Constitution, respect the law, and fervently love the socialist motherland.’’
Don't think that Chinese people love Xi Jinping like a god, thats not reality, no one thinks he is god status. They recognise that Xi Jinping is pushing the country in the right direction and is a great leader, a person China needs. Outsiders can make comments but they really have a hard time understanding and appreciating.

Many people that convert to Christianity in rural China or poor urban do so because of hardships of they went through (especially in early economic reform period), as a relief of burden of their struggles. They just want to feel that there is someone or a greater force sharing their burden and/or to explain their pains. Not necessarily because of the enlightened teachings of Christianity. Saying “Help turn those who believe in religions into believing in the Party” basically means the CCP wants to replace that role of emotional burden of a painful material existence in the minds of those people. These people just want to know that their material life will get better (health care, nutrition, job opportunities, education). Think of Christmas: Some parents buy presents for their children and say "Santa came and gave you gifts because you had been a good child". Some parents buy presents for their children and say "Mom and Dad worked hard to get you your favourite toy, we hope you enjoy it. When you have kids I hope you will work hard to make them happy too". Its a difference in philosophy, no right or wrong but China has its own philosophy. Its symbolism with a message.

I don't buy into cult of personalities. There is truth is saying "Jesus won't save you". Believing Jesus will save you from everything in itself is a cult of personality. Xi won't save everyone either, he just replaces Jesus as the emotional burden. A lot of these pseudo-religious people are just people that like to worship a powerful figure, doesn't matter who they are, these people are not real religious people. The reason I say "Jesus won't save you" is not because of the afterlife and the teachings of Christianity, but to make these people think that they can change reality instead of doing the same things and just praying to Jesus. Xi is basically telling those poor people that their lives can get better through both handwork in the right direction and the government is looking out for them. Not saying they will become rich but definitely helps them emotionally.

Many Christian organisations in China are points of infiltration by outside intelligence services thus hurting its reputation.
