Japanese War Crimes and Atrocities

Ah well, when you put it that way....

I dont know what those protocols are though. I thought putting out a statement was it.

The formal apologies are quite a joke don't you think? Here are some of the statements copied from that list.

On 31 October 2008, the chief of staff of Japan's Air Self-Defense Force Toshio Tamogami was dismissed with a 60 million yen allowance[108] due to an essay he published, arguing that Japan was not an aggressor during World War II

On 2 March 2007, the issue was raised again by Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, in which he denied that the military had forced women into sexual slavery during World War II. He stated, "The fact is, there is no evidence to prove there was coercion." Before he spoke, a group of Liberal Democratic Party lawmakers also sought to revise Yohei Kono's 1993 apology to former comfort women.[10][13] However, this provoked negative reaction from Asian and Western countries.

In 2010, one comfort woman from Taiwan stated, "It’s unacceptable that the Japanese government still refuses to apologize for what it did." President Ma Ying-jeou also declared, "It is the responsibility of the Japanese government to admit its mistakes and apologize... The battle is not over yet and it is regretful that the Japanese government still refuses to face its mistakes."[56]

In October 2006, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's apology was followed on the same day by a group of 80 Japanese lawmakers' visit to the Yasukuni Shrine which enshrines more than 1000 convicted war criminals.[54] Two years after the apology, Shinzo Abe also denied that the Imperial Japanese military had forced comfort women into sexual slavery during World War II .

As of 2010, 24% of South Koreans still feel that Japan has never apologized for its colonial rule, while another 58% believe Japan has not apologized sufficiently.

As for Unit 731
Unit 731 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1997, the international lawyer Kōnen Tsuchiya filed a class action suit against the Japanese government demanding reparations for the actions of Unit 731, using evidence filed by Rikkyo University professor Makoto Ueda. All court levels found that the suit was baseless. No findings of fact were made about the existence of human experimentation, but the decision of the court was that reparations are determined by international treaties and not by local court cases.

In October 2003, the Prime Minister of Japan responded to an inquiry from a member of the House of Representatives of Japan stating that, while the current Japanese government does not possess any records related to Unit 731, they recognize the gravity of the matter and will publicize any records that are located in the future.[43]

Japan had never apologized for the human experiments done by this unit and even denies that there are strong evidence.

You stupid Americans and Indians don't bother to read the whole text, just simply put a link of wiki with the paragraph "a list of apology"

Me neither, but then when various governments say so we have to give weights to their opinions. When Germany formally apologized to its former victim nations we never witness individuals or groups came out and refuted their apologies. Where as in Japan there are many right wingers constantly appeared in public and stated this or that never happened.

When a government formally repent an action, its politicians, medias (especially) and people have to follow that line and never open that can of worms again.

.
If they truely regretted their actions they wouldn't have worshipped the criminals in the shrine. Imagine if the Germans created a shrine for Hitler and have its people and officials worship him there. I doubt the rest of the world, especially the Jewish community, would forgive them for it.
Japan never officially and sincerely apologized to China and Korea. A sorry nation does not deny, rewrite and glorify its history.

Countries such as Japan (like western countries) only understand the language of power. The only way to deal with them is to defeat them. Only then they will respect you. This should explain why the Japanese love the West so much. Especially America, the country that inflicted so much suffering to Japan. That's why I call them honorless. I despise people like that regardless of race.

The best thing for Japan to do is really to stop bringing up the subject. It's an unnecessary opening of a can of worms.

Whenever Japanese bureaucrats talk about WWII they usually end up shooting themselves in the foot through "regrets" or sometimes outright denial. All this serves to do is help right-wingers keep their ego while making normal Japanese feel uncomfortable and inciting fury from East Asians.

That's why any "regrets" will be seen as grossly insincere and utterly meaningless in the absence of affirmative action like Germany. It's the same reason that Turkey and Armenia haven't been able to reconcile but that's another story...
The only difference is that the West doesn't care much about what Japanese politicians are denying

And we also have many honorless people in Turkey like that... those scum literally worship the West...

Tough luck trying to "defeat" the worlds third largest economy. And they ally themselves with thom they see strategic benefit.

Indeed just like what Fanling Monk and Obambam said. Germany officially apologized for the crimes and no political parties there even dare to deny the atrocities. Even their former prime minister knelt down as he apologized. We are not asking the Japanese emperor or their prime minister to kneel down. What China, Taiwan and South Korea want is a formal apology that is not being refuted by any political party. To acknowledge of forcing women into prostitution and to compensate these victims. No denial of the existence of Unit 731, apology for human experimenting and to compensate these victims. No visits or paying respect to the soldiers who committed these atrocities by political and imperial members. Acknowledge the Nanking massacre and teaching children the correct version of Japan's aggression and war crimes against humanity in Asia. Japanese textbooks focus strongly on the victims complex of the two nuclear attacks and to this day plenty Japanese still ask the questions why US used these bombs as Japan was losing the war. That's what you get when they use their own version of history.

Footage of Unit 731 and US working with this unit. US should be ashamed.

Emperor Akihito wishes to visit South Korea, will apologize if necessary
By Adam Westlake / September 21, 2012

In a surprising first response since tensions flared with South Korea several weeks ago about a visit to disputed islands, Japan’s Emperor Akihito has said that he would like to visit South Korea one day, and if necessary, would offer an apology for past atrocities committed during the occupation of the Korean peninsula. Earlier this summer, slightly prior to the tensions with China over the last two weeks, South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak made a sudden visit to the Dokdo/Takeshima Islands, prompting condemnation from Japan, who also claims the territory.

Local media says that on September 4th, Emperor Akihito told Koji Tsuruoka, the Foreign Ministry’s director-general for global issues, that at one point in the future he wants to visit South Korea with his wife, Empress Michiko. The emperor also wishes that the two countries can maintain their friendly relations into the future, despite their recent troubles. If it is necessary, Emperor Akihito is willing to apologize, if it will benefit the friendship between the two nations.

Upon his return from the islands, Korean President Lee demanded that the Japanese Emperor apologize for past wartime acts, such as the Japanese Imperial Army’s use of “comfort women,” or sexual slaves, before he could visit South Korea. Emperor Akihito had no plans to make such a visit at the time, and only ever had arrangements to do so in 1986, while he was still crown prince. Even that trip had to be cancelled because his wife was sick at the time.
