Japanese official warns that South China Sea activities may be precursor to ADIZ

You know, this might trigger other 'kinetically' restrained nations to conduct and initiate their own island genesis programs. This might be a double edged sword for China.

I know you're referencing Japan, but I could have seen the US as an answer too.

Like Japan, the US has dozens of artificial islands. What's a few more in the SCS:partay:?

Why Yes! Yes! :)

Yes, yes, the islands that the Chinese are making in the SCS is but a fraction of this one particular island we built. Mind you we built dozens of these kinds of island genesis products as well as reclamation.

Honestly these are some Marvels of Engineering and Technology ..
Chinese made Islands i saw on google are nice too ..

artificial islands are things to be proud off, but they are expensive and waste of money :P

Expensive, yes. But necessary? Yes! For a relatively 'small' country like Japan with a population of nearly 130 million. Space is a commodity we don't have much of. So , if land is in short supply? Make it! LOL.

The Odaiba district of Greater Metro Tokyo is actually completely man made:

More, please, my Scandinavian friend. :)

Scandinavia, apart from a lot of bridges and their support infrastructure (above water foundations), doesn't really have a lot of artificial islands. We really don't need them due to a glut of natural ones.

Sweden's got Universitetsholmen, which is home to the University of Malmo:

Why all the hubbub about the Chinese Islands? They're really, really unimpressive by comparison, and hardly unique. Even from a military perspective an Island is a poor choice. Islands have a history of falling, Japan could tell China that better than anyone. Perhaps I'll get our Chinese friends a WWII in the Pacific history book for Christmas.

Sven says hello too (i'm staying with him until January)

Yes, we lost plenty of those natural ones. And in fact we pioneered island development and island genesis even before those pesky Seabeas got to them. Argh! But its okay now, all's well that ends well, as i say.

ze past iz ze past. :)

Is Japan able to put a force field around it?

Yes, in fact, a multi-layered air and anti air defense. Rest assured, the moment any nation attacks these resources, is a declaration of war on Japan, and the activation of the Japanese Military Machine.

As I can see it, those Chinese artificial islands will be gone in 10 to 20 years when sea level rises compared to japan's or Norways.

Compensating for something? That's an awfully big missile - hard to hide. Make sure to wave when USA-245 is in the area, I'm sure it'll be happy to see you too:

Considering how far these islands are from Hainan? Logistically, it will be a problem. But that's just me.

Which brings us to historical lesson number two: outpost far from one's own lands are difficult to resupply if besieged. The US has allied nations and a massive logistics pool that can support its overseas vacations. China has... ... ... Um ... ... ... Hmm ... ... ... Well they have ... ... ... Uh ... ... ...

Honestly, someone give these guys a history book:o:! These scenarios have played out before, they always devolve into the same conclusion.
