It’s pathetic to be honest. China is facing so many threats yet the CPC don’t see a need to increase military budget to atleast 3% of GDP. For comparison Israel spends 5% of GDP. For the level of threats China faces, military spending should be close to 5% of GDP.

Anglos view China as the enemy regardless of military budget. So if the CPC thought having a smaller military budget might present a ‘less threatening’ image of China, then they are mistaken. Anglos and Japan don’t care anymore.
