You cannot use that argument to create a valid comparison between the USN and the PLAN.
- WW II was the first time fleets fought against each other without seeing each other. That is not to say that such engagements will never occur again, no one is that bold in prediction, but that given the high value and capabilities of air power, it is remote that fleets will ever face each other in line-of-sight (LOS) combat, and when one side can wield an aircraft carrier fleet but the other cannot, the probability of such an engagement is even more remote simply because no one is that foolish. Suicidal, perhaps.
- The USN is ten times the expeditionary force of any sea going country. The PLAN is a young navy. Not trying to be insulting but to compare the PLAN against the USN is like comparing a domesticated cat against a wild tiger.
- If the US has not fought a major sea engagement since WW II, it is not for lack of will but simply for lack of peer opponents. Like it or not, not even the Soviet Navy could have taken on the USN back in the Cold War, and the PLAN today is not even half the Soviet Navy then.
that was my thinking as well, hence the next sentence.
Your carrier operations is crazy good, at least within the next 20 years, I doubt we can catch up a sufficient amount.to be able to defeat you without having access to our airports and you have no airports what so ever.
We will see how the world works, 15 years ago I was still impressed by the type 53. 15 years later even the 52D seems not that much for the PLAN.
Decades will pass before a true opponent will show up before you, we will see how the world economy works.
