What's new

Japan and Korea are considered branches of the Chinese civilisation

Considering the dynasty collapsed already in civil war, there wasn't much of a choice once the majority of Northern forces joined the Manchu instead.

No, they forced Chinese (and other ethnic groups) to cut their hair. Then they adopted Confucianism and China's foreign policy. The Manchu alone would have been annihilated in a blink of an eye, they needed Han and Mongols to really do anything.
But you would agree that for the first time in Chinese history non-Chinese elements were forced on the population.

.
While that is true the Manchus defeated the Ming and Shun dynasty in quite a short time and first imposed their culture on the Chinese population which was unseen in Chinese history.
(Even the Yuan dynasty and some Turkic lords never tried to impose their culture on the Chinese)
it seems you know little about manchus culture and history, manchus started to adopting chinese culture even before their invasion, also the order of battle was actually shun forces destroyed central power of ming and manchus has beaten weakened shun afterward.

But you would agree that for the first time in Chinese history non-Chinese elements were forced onn the population.
Actually there were many records before, like warring states period certain states adopting babarian customs, of course nobody accept it from starts and they need to be enforced, but it did make contribution particular in millitary reforms.

or after downfall of han dynasty when different foreign babarians have fallen over various parts of china, they did infact tried to force their own customs upon the locals and gained success of various degree, some even managed to hold for several generations, but the next time by the rise of united chinese dynasty those things either disapperead or melted into the dominant chinese culture. In this sense what manchus did was hardly unique and they got the same results like predesessors, become a minor part of dominant chinese culture.

The history has passed for a hundred years.

The more important thing is preparing for mark of 69th anniversary of the Tokyo Trial and 70th anniversary of victory over Japan. Force Japanese govt to kick off those war criminals out of their shrine, modify the absurd school history book. .

@Ahiska , @TaiShang , @Nan Yang et al,

Check this movie out, really good. A classic Japanese film on the Mongol Invasion of Japan.

Sorry, you need to recommend a much better movie if you want me to watch. A 1958 movie, poor acting, poor direction ? No way I will spend 2hrs watching it.

Here is a much better movie.
Its about the life of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
The end of the movie show him leading the remnant of the Joseon kingdom's navy into battle with the larger Japanese Navy. Enjoy.

Like I said - bad taste, poorly traveled.

You may dictate the tibetans culture, but you wont dictate an italian about taste comrade.

Too mix sour with sweet is terrible for me

Oh, shit, please, you don't know anything about Chinese food. How dare you say so if you never come to China and have a taste by yourself? Hmm, how many dishes are sour mixed with sweet? Probably only 0.1%. It's American food that mix sour, sweet and even spicy....LOL

Not even to mention that Chinese food has eight branches...Hahaha

I visited USA, China, Russia, egypt and brazil. As far as i know all those places are outside of europe.

We have a functioning government. A government that is sucessful enough to be able to give evry italian 8times the monthly income and living standard that the normal chinese has.

For all those countries Europeans have looted, robbed, rapped, murdered...etc., the reason you have a better living standard in Europe than those country you "visited" is precisely because of the atrocities committed by your forefathers, you get to enjoy the rich society built on others' wealth and suffering, really, Europeans and North Americans should feel ashamed of themselves.

It is like a robber criticizing the victim of not being able to afford hot water, if you did not rob him the first place, a lot of countries would be in better shape now.

Modern China is heavily influenced by the west.

Everything from architecture, pop culture, music, fashion, cars, railway, airplanes, ect.

It is pretty stupid to say China is "original". Culture change with time, and humans are adaptive animals, they usually take in what works and throw out what doesn't work. Basically, every culture copied something from other cultures.

You are correct, modern China is heavily influenced by the west. For example, some children call their parent directly the name. In ancient times, child could never call parent's name, it's considered as animal and anti-morality. Another example, Chinese in traditional culture didn't discriminate against the black, especially male, in some classical Chinese novels, some characters in black skin are heroes. But nowadays, honestly speaking, some Chinese really don't like them whatever they do.

In a word, some western influence is very bad, some is good. If you can read Wechat or Weibo in Chinese, some persons start to post anti Muslims content after Paris Charlie attack and Germany anti-muslim protests. China govt has to make a huge effect control such influence, direct only at Islam terrorism. Any way, the west architecture is not bad. Cars, railway, airplanes? Are you joking? That's just technology which are shared with each other.

I afraid I can't agree. All you said are influenced by the west, but you have not realized it. For example, in 7th century, Han people had already met with the black skin people in South Asia, we just record their feature, culture, religion and custom, but the writer had no discrimination of their skin. In 13th century, some Europeans, especially Rome people came to China, we record their feature, culture, religion, but no records show they are beautiful. Again you actually has been influenced by the west, but you don't realize it.

Do you blame us for being better? Life is competition. If the only achievement of your culture is a spear...then you deserve to be robbed.

We share our technology with you. We dont use chinese technology. So far you invented nothing that we use now.

I don't blame you being better, if humanity's better is you guys, it deserves to be doomed.
So this is how you justify genocide, all the killing of babies, children, elders, competition??

Oh I can see why, you don't even know the guns, rockets, or compass are invented by Chinese, guess you never saw fireworks before as well.

@MarkusS
3 pages of Chinese food vs. pasta all started by you :offpost:, and frankly it's quite hilarious for an Italian to talk about govs & governance since i usually use Italy as the counter example.

on topic!
@Nihonjin1051
how would Japanese describe its cultural relationship with China?
father son? big brother little brother? ...or mitosis? curious mutation?

and why we don't have an active Korean here on PDF, we need at least one to complete the China-Korea-Japan love triangle....:lol:

There are 3 Koreans here, @pokdo ,
@sEoulman556 and @Red Mahura
