The defense ministers of Japan and Indonesia on Sunday agreed to send messages to the rest of the world that the two countries will strongly oppose any action by China that could escalate tensions in regional waters.
Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi also told reporters after holding talks with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto in Tokyo that they will urge China to refrain from trying to unilaterally change the status quo in the South and East China seas.


While voicing concern over China’s introduction of a law allowing its coast guard to fire on vessels intruding into what it considers its waters, Kishi said they agreed to boost defense cooperation and hold a joint exercise involving Japanese and Indonesian forces in the South China Sea.
On Myanmar’s situation, Kishi said they agreed to work closely toward the early restoration of a democratic government.
The foreign and defense ministers of Japan and Indonesia are scheduled to hold talks together on Tuesday in Tokyo. The so-called two-plus-two talks will be the second of their kind since December 2015.

ROC holds Taiwan island. ROC is Republic of China. Mainland China is PRC.

China don't need to do amphibious assault. Aerial bombardment from Kashgar airbase is sufficient to induce surrender. Kashgar airbase is 4,500+ km from Taiwan, outside range of Taiwanese F-16 and ballistic missiles.

No such statements singling China was ever issued from our side, either from the MoD or MoFA... and I strongly doubt there will ever be one... Pointing finger to a specific party or country regarding such matters was never in our country's diplomatic tradition or style... not to states like Myanmar, Syria, Iran, Israel, Afghanistan, Yemen, etc and it certainly won't be to China either... At most a formal statement will usually call for something like "... all sides to maintain peace and calm and to refrain from using violence in resolving territorial disputes...". So far the above article is just a one-sided Japanese news claim...

Anyway, the main purpose of this visit is to sign a defense and commercial agreement to enable both sides to clear a way for exports of Japanese defense articles and the financing scheme for Indonesia... We have been eyeing their new FFM30 frigate as a candidate for our next generation frigates for some time now, and perhaps even their Subs and Flying boats...
