Secularism doesn't discriminate among any religions rather it lets everyone freely practice religion. There's no conflict if one wants to be a hardcore Muslim or Christian in a secular state...also one could be atheist. It doesn't allow a religion to act as state governance. Don't take the examples of some hypocrites who gathered at Shahbagh.

Almost all the organizers of Shahbag protest are somehow related to Anti Islam Blogging.... Though they are protesting against Jamat in the name of War crime using public sentiment, their main target is Islam.... JAMAT utilized the opportunity and published those writings... Now the Non Jamati Mullahs are angry against Shahbag. commie newspaper daily star is trying to portrait them as radicalS in the article. But this is a wrong move, huge proportion of our people are madarasa educated and they will not tolerate any bigotry against Islam. Never knew secularists are this dumb!

It would be good to document everything in a single thread and see the links between the authors of these works and the organisers of the shahbag movement. In Bangladesh people from all walks of life and religion suffers most under indian branded "secularism". Because it is NOT secularism, it is hegemony and supremacy wearing secular sugar coat. In contrast, in Muslim majority Bangladesh with Islamic value and aspiration at heart, people from all religion enjoyed harmony and equity. Good post. Meaning of the word secularism in underdeveloped country is also twisted, malnourished and underdeveloped, just like our human beings. In Bangladesh and India, it is mirror image minority vote bank politics wearing a secular mask. In Bangladesh Awami League uses the 10% Hindu as their vote bank and in India Congress uses 15% Muslims as their vote bank, and both sings the song of so called "secularism". This is another product of 1947 partition, just like the 1971 separation of two wings of Pakistan.

Politics in Bangladesh (AL) and India (Congress) have completely transformed the meaning of the word secular, to something which is now not recognizable from its original meaning in the Western context.
