The world's worst traffic: can Jakarta find an alternative to the car?

Beijing is just as bad, if not worse. Answer? Perhaps only metro can help.

Jakarta sure is huge and large, an oversized kampong some people said. Nevertheless taking view about Jakarta from above is such breathtaking experiences...

well we are constructing MRT and LRT right now and discouraging people to driving their private car

Yes that's the way, let's build the whole Jakarta on rail transport web. Metro (Light rail included) for day time commuting, cars for night time leisure, holidays, and sports!

Jakarta Kota Tua (Jakarta, Old City district)

Wisata-Kota-Tua-Jakarta.jpg

Kota Tua Jakarta ("Jakarta Old Town"), officially known as Kota Tua, is a neighborhood comprising the original downtown area of Jakarta, Indonesia. It is also known as Oud Batavia (Dutch "Old Batavia"), Benedenstad (Dutch "Lower City", contrasting it with Weltevreden, de Bovenstad ("Upper City")), or Kota Lama (Indonesian "Old Town"). It spans 1.3 square kilometres within North Jakarta and West Jakarta (Kelurahan Pinangsia, Taman Sari and Kelurahan Roa Malaka, Tambora). The largely Chinese downtown area of Glodok is a part of Kota Tua.

Kota Tua is a remainder of Oud Batavia, the first walled settlement of the Dutch in Jakarta area. It was an inner walled city with its own Castle. The area gained importance during the 17th-19th century when it was established as the de facto capital of the Dutch East Indies. This inner walled city contrasted with the surrounding kampung (villages), orchards, and rice fields. Dubbed "The Jewel of Asia" in the 16th century by European sailors, the area was a center of commerce due to its strategic location within the spice trade industry in the archipelago.

@Shotgunner51

a lil advice, entrance fee for high end clubs in Jakarta maybe a little more expensive compared to what Bangkok has but unless u are ladies in which came at ladies night :p: booking in advance and bought a bottle to open the table if u came in lot will help u lot.

if you are a party goers and love to trance maybe u can try JENJA located in Cilandak South Jakarta. They had many events and regularly invite famous DJ...

Right now, we will dwelled in the past, Jakarta Tempo Doeloe (Jakarta in the Past). Jakarta since long had been the center for Colonial government, that's why a lot of Photos and Pictures about Jakarta been preserved and became the most important sources on how Jakarta had lived in the past
