Thats not the point when we have Shia majority countries in the Arab world e.g Iraq Yemen , and a considerable amount of shia Muslims in Syria and Lebanon.

Well Me dosent know this is the right place for this or not but close this disscossion that SHIAS are MuslimS or any sect even ....a thousand times proven in only our country that they are no Muslims ........they starts this debate to hide in 80s THE MEDIA WAS TV OR RADIO WAS AROUND !6% population of Pakistan ......the Guess wasnt very wrong half of it will be shia so we can get to 8% of the population by media was again worked out WRONG it was nearly 4%.........ha .....So they discovered another media every Police station ( which by then was said our last and least wing by Army ) can announce through loud speaker because every inch comes under every police station .........so weather its villages or Jungle single 12 can come to know about SHIA that they are not Muslims and Trainned tomandos of any country in us ............NOW TV IS WITH AROUND 80% Population of PAKISTANies so if NAWAZ SHARIF LIKES ANY ! ANYONE who recites the Kalima and believe in finality of prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), is a Muslim.

Shias fulfill basics of Islam and hence they are as much Muslims as we are.

Rest the political wrangling between KSA and Iran is already harming Islam.

Isn't it ridiculous to have a law like that ? Dont Sunni Muslims consider Shias as Muslims as well ? And wont Pakistan do anything to get them out ?

I am unpleasantly surprised by the complete lack of Pakistani outrage on this thread.

I was just trying to see how concerned Pakistanis are about their citizens jailed abroad en masse especially when they are from a minority sect. This thread answered the questions on my mind. Thank you.

Jais arrests 50 Pakistani Shia Muslims

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor religious authorities yesterday arrested 50 Pakistani nationals believed to be Shia Muslim.

They were at an event to mark the Ashura – a day observed worldwide by Shias with prayers and recitations to mourn the death of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Hussain.

Mohd Kamilzuhairi Abd Aziz, a prominent member of the local Shia community, told FMT that the group was arrested at Batu Caves, and brought to the Selangor Islamic Department (JAIS) office in Kuang at 11pm last night.

He said 15 of them were women and children. He expects the 35 others to be brought to the Shariah court.

It is not clear under what offence they could be charged, but Islamic authorities have in the past taken action against Shia Muslims in the country based on a fatwa declaring the second largest Muslim domination as deviant.

However, Jais had issued a statement in 2010 exempting foreign nationals from the ruling.

Kamilzuhairi questioned Jais’ action, saying the group had merely participated in a mourning ceremony for Hussain, a 7th century figure revered by Shias worldwide whose death in Karbala, Iraq, marked the beginning of the Shia-Sunni discord.

Ashura is observed on Muharam 10 of the Islamic calendar.

“It is strange that foreigners are denied the right to subscribe to their sect,” he told FMT, adding that the authorities had also made several seizures.

Two days ago, officers from the Malacca Islamic Department arrested two locals, aged 32 and 54, for allegedly displaying a banner with the word “Hussain”, in conjunction with Ashura.


Will Pakistan be doing anything to help these people ?

Nothing wrong with typing in bold. It's not considered rude. Typing in Capital is considered rude, not in bold. Anyway, it was unintentional. I think when I copy pasted, it turned to Bold mode automatically.
