J10 looks awesome. But i still have some doubts about it and jf17....They are both very new air craft and PAF is making them its main combat air craft??? not sure.....what do you guys think?

Samething can be said about any new air-craft, but it eventually matures, just as F-16/18/22 and many other on the market. But know that China recieved Russia/Israeli help on the J-10 and possibly JF-17. J-10 already beat the Russian supplied SU-27 in PLAF service.

But know that Pakistan's advantage lies in western tech as well, which will be incorporated in JF-17 and possibly J-10 (This is like the same question on another thread you made, please do read the sticky threads, and other non-sticky threads related to the planes)

haba haba haba ........ i heard they where making a new plane like this but strelth ???

anyone got the details ???

The plane looks impressive (in pics). I think the only thing that is left in the plane is an AESA radar and perhaps a TVC. If J-10 are equipped with both of these techs, it would surpass the F-16s by long margin, perhaps equivalent to the MKIs of the IAF.

I think TVC is on cards. They do would like to have it, but nonetheless the aircraft is already very maneuverable!

I think that the current maneuverability is compared with the F-16s late blocks. However during the paris show 2001 Russia did showed a prototype of the current AL-31FN with thrust vectoring to meet the current chinese requirement, no known details are available after that, it seems that china will use this engine with TV in there new advance version called the super-10. Pakistan also seems to be interested in super-10 and not the j-10. Lets see which way the wind blows.:pakistan: :china:

FC-20 (Super J-10) will basically have western weapons integration, long range radar, and a better ECM.

J-10 has been in service with PLAAF for almost a decade with atleast 100 built sofar, yet PAF is getting its first FC-20 in 2009 (see Air International Magazine, Sept. edition, page 54) and thats for the obvious reason mentioned by webby in previous post.
FC-20 will be a true gen 4.5 MRCA possible with a mix of french, german, italian and russian technology.

China working on 'Super-10' advanced fighter

China is developing an advanced version of the Chengdu Aircraft Industrial Corporation (CAC) J-10 multirole fighter aircraft, referred to as the Super-10, with a more powerful engine, thrust-vector control, stronger airframe and passive phased-array radar, according to Russian sources.

Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RSK-MiG) specialists, contracted to provide technical assistance to Chinese design houses, said the enhancement to the J-10 airframe is a logical step, since the fighter was initially intended to have the compact Pratt&Whitney PW1120 engine that powered the Israeli Lavi aircraft, which served as a basis for the J-10.

However, the imposition of US export restrictions forced the decision to install the 20 per cent heavier Russian AL-31FN engine, which requires a larger intake as it needs 40 per cent more air flow.

In late 2005 China placed a USD300 million order for a second batch of AL-31FN engines; these are a derivative of the Su-27's AL-31F for single-engine aircraft, with a lower positioning of the gearbox. At first, it was believed the contract was for the same engines as in the first batch of 54 units supplied in 2001-02 and installed into development prototypes and initial production J-10s. However, AL-31FN-maker Moscow Machine Production Plant (MMPP) Salyut in December 2005 revealed the order to be for the AL-31FN M1, which is claimed to be a new AL-31FN production standard.

The company's general manager, Yuri Eliseyev, said the new engine was purposely developed for what he referred to as the "Chinese Super-10 fighter". Four such engines have been seen assembled at MMPP Salyut's Moscow production site. One of these has been demonstrated undergoing fire testing, during which its swivel nozzle was deflected up/down and sideways at full power and reheated thrust.
