What's new

It’s time the US started listening to Turkey

@Neptune
First of all, I'm not an AKP or Gülen fan boy. İ support neither one. But I'm not blind. AKP media is describing these generals as Gülenist because people know they are in fact disgusting hardcore Kemalists. This sounds stupid but it is, indeed, extremely intelligent and wise. By doing so, they're combining Gülen + Kemalism to create a modern concept of enemy for the public. A perfect excuse to fight both groups, Kemalists and Gülenists. This is very clever. Anyways, this does not change the facts I wrote down above. The Kemalist establishment in our military is/was extremely influenced by Nato and USA. They were the main reason we did not interfered earlier in Syria. This is not forgivable.
yeah lets also blame the coup on the kemalists, also the people who negotiated with the pkk were kemalists right and the one who are currently incharge are kemalist averything that goes wrong is the fault of the kemalist, erdogan akp are the only patriot in the country, everyone else is a traitor...

.
The reality isn't that simple.

One of the reasons why we intervened too late in Syria was the objection to this operation of your beloved Kemalist generals. Traditionally, Kemalist generals are pro-Nato and pro-Usa in Turkey.

Like I said before, Kemalists aren't better than AKP sheeps. They are just another breed of sheeps.

When did Erdogan jail all the Kemalist generals and when did the war in Syria start, how many Kemalist generals are left?
You should really do some research before throwing out such accusations.
Without the Kemalist generals, the Turkish army is nothing but just another ME army,Israel excluded.
Take a look at how clumsy the Euphrates Shield Operation is going,is this the way it should have been done,we leave howitsers out in the open to be shot by manpads,no air support for our tanks, taken territory lost to ISIS and YPG,a NATO standard army, really?

yeah thats something also im asking myself we have over 300 aircrafts which are capable of providing air support yet it seems like tuaf is only using 1-2 f16 in operation euphrates shield. technicly u could take the whole area there(5000km²) in a couple of days but we also only have 400 soldiers down there. Operation euphrates sword has to happen. If not turkey is next.

This event is not on the NPC calendar, which implies there won't be many independent reporters covering it.
Whose fault is it ? I'm not implying anything, just wondering because it could have been a good opportunity for PR.

I think listing the event is the client's option since NPC lets spaces by the expected number of attendees the client specifies.

I understand. But the threat now is the damage to the U.S.-Turkey relationship. As of right now, I think Trump can salvage matters
Why do you think that it will be different with Trump?
His soon to be administration also stated that the YPG/SDF are the real allies, another contradiction to what M.T.Flynn(from the same administration) stated about Turkiye(NATO ally).
Its difficult for Turks(even those not supporting Erdogan, like myself) to believe anything positive coming from the US and you know the reasons why.
My question is what damage the Obama Administration will inflict by intent (provocation) or negligence between now and Trump's inauguration?
The damage is already done in Syria,by supporting the PKK ofshoot(YPG),the promise by the Obama administration of the YPG leaving Manbij(never happened and will never happen).
Trust me,nobody in Turkiye cares if Gulen is extradited or not,our priority is what will happen to the YPG(PKK) terrorists when ISIS is defeated.

Lets see what Trump brings to the table although i doubt it being in favor of my country.

My guess? Trump is a big believer in the maxim, "Good fences make good neighbors."

.
Well it's good to see western commentators try and look at the whole thing from Turkeys side. Hopefully the trend will keep moving that way

What good are fences when there are already 3 million refugees inside of the country?
Syria needs to be cleaned so that the refugees can go back home and we have our country back.

Didn't mean a fence at the Turkey border but some sort of fence within Syria itself.

When, Turkey begins shelling the CIA along with its YPG/PYD's in Syria, when people demand the US bases be closed in Turkey, or that any US military activity or existence in neighboring 'peaceful' countries is enough reason for Turkey to consider it an act of war. Perhaps Turkey buying couple tens of S400 series anti-airs, and placing them in locations around Turkey to specifically target US aircraft... The US might suddenly get it... till then... Turkey is about as important as a Berber hut to them....

Cleaning Syria isn't possible, unless we invade and annex it. Those refugees I think aren't going anywhere... the Wall is an old project from the 90's which didn't have any financing behind it, it has many benefits, from stopping smugglers to limiting movement of terrorists.. if guard stations (automatic turrets, and video surveillance posts) are positioned wisely.

p.s. I keep joking about the wall, it is to keep the arab imports in.. :) and to save YPG kurds from being killed by Turks.

You think it is that simple?

EU is the largest trading partner of Turkey and contributor to its economy accordingly. On top of that, Turkey also has PKK problem. You think that Turkey would want to risk all that?

Whatever the problem Turkey is facing in Syria or the Gülenist issue, has to be settled through negotiations.

Whatever the problem Turkey is facing in Syria or the Gülenist issue, has to be settled through negotiations.

The root of the problem has always been the US, and some EU countries, they have financed, aided, educated and given arms to i.e. supplied terrorists it was the Armenian ASALA before the PKK, which murdered Turkish diplomats along with their families in acts of terror all over Europe,

the PKK, as you probably know splintered into many sub names, to suit the area they were 'terrorizing' or due to bad press in the west, but, they are all more or less the same entity with interchangeable characters... I believe first pictures of US soldiers openly in PKK camps came out late 90's, along with new of mysterious UN helicopters giving intelligence on movement of the Turkish army to the PKK when the Turkish army was hunting them, and their leader down......then the obvious, Italy hosted in a villa and gave honorary citizenship to the PKK leader who stayed there (cant remember perhaps almost a year) and Turkey was refused when it wanted him extradited... not even going to bother with Greek, Cypriot obvious support (i.e. his extra passports)
Turkish-US relationships didn't deteriorate overnight and have gone down the drain gradually with consequent Clinton, Bushs' (Snr. Jnr), Obama... which is no surprise that polls show that Turks hate the US more than Iranians ever did which is something I thought that was always funny...relations deteriorated because the public knows for fact a lot of things that the leaders of this country are blind to see. Turkish-EU relations are the same, it is well known, well documented fact how much in tens of thousands of tonnes of 'military aid' that EU countries have dropped to offshoots of the PKK. The more the EU defaults to their nature of racism and fascism the less of an ally and more of an enemy they become... they will probably be embargoing Turkey soon, when Turkey opens the refugee gates, due to the EU unilaterally failing to fulfill their part of the deal on refugees, they will play the same game as they did with Russia..

Turkish economy exists from Africa, S. America to China and Russia, there will be buyers of Turkish products whatever the status quo, and economies work two ways, the EU has much more invested in Turkey than the other way around, Turkey has idiotically entered into agreements with the EU (thanks to T. Çiller ) where Turkish companies are taxed, limited.... whilst EU companies are free to flood and destroy the Turkish market without any taxation or limits. (which is something that is going to be looked at next year, according to some news channels)

All of the above have, in my opinion have gotten so bad, that yes, I think that it is that simple.. almost all of the above are acts of hostility and perhaps war. Ignoring those who have blood of innocent civilians of Turkey on their hands, so that firms can sell one more TV, refrigerator.... to the EU or that one more tourist will come.... or opening military bases and areas of influence to military's of countries involved so that they will fight their terrorists, or destroy economically viable neighboring countries just because they wanted a puppet change there in my view is utter st@pidity...

p.s. What is Turkey's loss in trade due to Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia.....Ukraine, even Yugoslavia look at the eventual big picture, next will be permanent military bases in Cyprus, N.Syria, N. Iraq and full blockade of Turkey. These are enemy countries.
