You think it is that simple?
EU is the largest trading partner of Turkey and contributor to its economy accordingly. On top of that, Turkey also has PKK problem. You think that Turkey would want to risk all that?
Whatever the problem Turkey is facing in Syria or the Gülenist issue, has to be settled through negotiations.
The root of the problem has always been the US, and some EU countries, they have financed, aided, educated and given arms to i.e. supplied terrorists it was the Armenian ASALA before the PKK, which murdered Turkish diplomats along with their families in acts of terror all over Europe,
the PKK, as you probably know splintered into many sub names, to suit the area they were 'terrorizing' or due to bad press in the west, but, they are all more or less the same entity with interchangeable characters... I believe first pictures of US soldiers openly in PKK camps came out late 90's, along with new of mysterious UN helicopters giving intelligence on movement of the Turkish army to the PKK when the Turkish army was hunting them, and their leader down......then the obvious, Italy hosted in a villa and gave honorary citizenship to the PKK leader who stayed there (cant remember perhaps almost a year) and Turkey was refused when it wanted him extradited... not even going to bother with Greek, Cypriot obvious support (i.e. his extra passports)
Turkish-US relationships didn't deteriorate overnight and have gone down the drain gradually with consequent Clinton, Bushs' (Snr. Jnr), Obama... which is no surprise that polls show that Turks hate the US more than Iranians ever did which is something I thought that was always funny...relations deteriorated because the public knows for fact a lot of things that the leaders of this country are blind to see. Turkish-EU relations are the same, it is well known, well documented fact how much in tens of thousands of tonnes of '
military aid' that EU countries have dropped to offshoots of the PKK. The more the EU defaults to their nature of racism and fascism the less of an ally and more of an enemy they become... they will probably be embargoing Turkey soon, when Turkey opens the refugee gates, due to the EU unilaterally failing to fulfill their part of the deal on refugees, they will play the same game as they did with Russia..
Turkish economy exists from Africa, S. America to China and Russia, there will be buyers of Turkish products whatever the status quo, and economies work two ways, the EU has much more invested in Turkey than the other way around, Turkey has idiotically entered into agreements with the EU (thanks to T. Çiller ) where Turkish companies are taxed, limited.... whilst EU companies are free to flood and destroy the Turkish market without any taxation or limits. (which is something that is going to be looked at next year, according to some news channels)
All of the above have, in my opinion have gotten so bad, that yes, I think that it is that simple.. almost all of the above are acts of hostility and perhaps war. Ignoring those who have blood of innocent civilians of Turkey on their hands, so that firms can sell one more TV, refrigerator.... to the EU or that one more tourist will come.... or opening military bases and areas of influence to military's of countries involved so that they will fight their terrorists, or destroy economically viable neighboring countries just because they wanted a puppet change there in my view is utter st@pidity...
p.s. What is Turkey's loss in trade due to Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia.....Ukraine, even Yugoslavia look at the eventual big picture, next will be permanent military bases in Cyprus, N.Syria, N. Iraq and full blockade of Turkey. These are enemy countries.
