NEW DELHI (BNS): India and Russia have agreed to design the 5th generation fighter aircraft T-50 at an estimated cost of $295 million.

According to a report by RIA Novosti, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chairman Ashok Nayak, during an interview with the Russian news agency, said that, "the cost of preliminary design is estimated at $295 million."

The Indo-Russian agreement for the design and construction of the new fifth-generation fighter aircraft will be signed during a visit by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to India on December 20-22. The contract could be signed could be signed by the representatives of India's HAL and Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).

The aircraft jointly developed by India and Russia could be completed by 2015-2016. The costs will be shared equally between both the countries, the news report added.

The interiors of the new aircraft will have a two-seater cockpit and advanced avionics.

The aircraft will be based on Russia's T-50 prototype fifth-generation fighter. The aircraft has already been subjected to several test flights and should enter into service with the Russian Air Force in 2015.

i think so it is the development cost that will be shared by india and the same amount by russia

.
Design cost

are we moving step by step...?
first paying the design cost for a already flying aircraft .
anyway ,
at $150ml india getting a joint copyright on design..so HAL can build the airframe at home using the design without paying loyalties..?

so , what next , agreement on engine development cost..?

then radar , weapons , data link , EWS etc..?

^^^ no the cost of $254 mil is to design FGFA on the basis of T-50
It will have components from various places..and will have connection to satellite network

I think FGFA will be more costlies than Pak -fa

No doubt, a twin seater is always slightly costlier + according to several reports more composite materials than the Russian wants + western avionics, or weapons (if possible).

Yeah, the twin seater will be costlier in both making it and operating it. but I think IAF has certain reasons to go for two seater, its the MKI experience.

i don't get one thing...almost every military project of russioa is jointly funded by india and Russia while India but Russia sells them off to china,Africa, and east Asia without giving us any profit.....huh!!!!

Of course, they might want to do the same long range and long endurance patrol missions that the MKI is doing now, not to mention the advantages in strikes.
That is also a reason why I say we don't need AMCA, because FGFA already offers everything IAF need in terms of multi role capabilities and dedicated strike features will be added with Aura UCAV anyway, which leaves nearly no role where AMCA can really give an advantage.
FGFA offers an excellent base for IAF and IN top level stealth fighters and should be added only with Aura UCAV and 4.5 gen LCA MK2, MMRCA and Flankers as secondary A2A and A2G fleet.

U r wrong..
Russia follows legal terms correctly..
It doesn't clone things and sell it illegally..
If russia wants to sell Indo-russian product to another country,it will ask for the consent of India, then only the product is sold..
Till now nothing has happened as u told in ur post..
So don't worry

Ourdedicated attack jets (Mig-27 etc) will be retired very soon.

So it is better to convert our Su-30 MKI as our primary strike force once FGFA arrives. For interceptor role, we have LCA & for air superiority, we have Mig-29 SMT, Mirage 2000H upgraded and MRCA(I prefer EF) and FGFA as IAF spearhead.
