What's new

Its official now--India, Russia to design T-50 5th generation fighter at $295 mln

I think overall it cost like $500 mln/plane after everything.... right

.
Of course, they might want to do the same long range and long endurance patrol missions that the MKI is doing now, not to mention the advantages in strikes.
That is also a reason why I say we don't need AMCA, because FGFA already offers everything IAF need in terms of multi role capabilities and dedicated strike features will be added with Aura UCAV anyway, which leaves nearly no role where AMCA can really give an advantage.
FGFA offers an excellent base for IAF and IN top level stealth fighters and should be added only with Aura UCAV and 4.5 gen LCA MK2, MMRCA and Flankers as secondary A2A and A2G fleet.
I guess after some time you would want a 5th gen fighter to be your work horse(low end fighters) and something that can be produced in house with numbers. Thats the reason we have AMCA?:)

i don't get one thing...almost every military project of russioa is jointly funded by india and Russia while India but Russia sells them off to china,Africa, and east Asia without giving us any profit.....huh!!!!
India didnt fund Su30, we funded avionics part for Su30 MKI, Su 30 as a plane can be sold to any country. Like Malaysia.

We funded Brahmos and PAKFA, so that cant be sold to anyone.

Only three project jointly funded and developed by India and Russia

1) Brahmos
2) IRTA
3) FGFA

And they are not selling this to China or anyone without India's approval. India might sell Brahmos to many countries.

. . .
russia has sold SU 30 to china
russia planning to sell PAKFA to china
russia planning to sell brahmos to some countries!:mod:

Where you find FGFA & Bhramos sold to china r others, Russia have full rights to sell PAK FA and Su-27/30/35.

Su30 MKK has no Indian money

Russia is not selling Pakfa nor Brahmos right now. You are still just a low life untermenschen bull$hitter

ya, by then 1.00$ = 9.00INR so

Yes you are right ....... But we have offer

Buy one get four free

nice buddy:cheers:

I hope FGFA will not have the nozzles like pak fa..
I hope it will have more stealthier design like the f22 and f-35...
wat do u guys think

NEW DELHI (BNS): India and Russia have agreed to design the 5th generation fighter aircraft T-50 at an estimated cost of $295 million.

According to a report by RIA Novosti, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chairman Ashok Nayak, during an interview with the Russian news agency, said that, "the cost of preliminary design is estimated at $295 million."

The Indo-Russian agreement for the design and construction of the new fifth-generation fighter aircraft will be signed during a visit by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to India on December 20-22. The contract could be signed could be signed by the representatives of India's HAL and Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).

The aircraft jointly developed by India and Russia could be completed by 2015-2016. The costs will be shared equally between both the countries, the news report added.

The interiors of the new aircraft will have a two-seater cockpit and advanced avionics.

The aircraft will be based on Russia's T-50 prototype fifth-generation fighter. The aircraft has already been subjected to several test flights and should enter into service with the Russian Air Force in 2015.

Buddy design is not yet finalized yet. Preliminary design cost is estimated at $295 million. Many features will be added as per India's demand. But the problem is that India doesn't know what she wants. The least we should do is a meeting of IAF and HAL, so that we can figure it out what we want. We are talking a lot about AMCA but we have not talked anything about FGFA and we want 50:50 partnership. There would be delays on all the fronts which are related to India like avionics.

.
very good news. 295 million dollars is not big amount for a 5th gen fighter,if it is development cost.it is less costly than f 22 program. luck to FGFA!

Its not development cost. Its just the initial design cost, which is also very important. The total development cost is estimated to be 11 billion $ which India and Russia will split 50:50 (5.5 billion each) but still less than US fighter.

295$ million is design cost. Total development cost around 5 Billion. Each piece will be of 100$ Million. India wants 300 such fighters. so around $30 Billion + $5 Billion = 35$ Billion

$5 billion not for just development cost but setting up huge manufacturing base for mass production as well. I guess it will cost nearly $3 billion.
