What's new

It's official. No more Arjuns!!!

Titanic took its due time before sinking!!! and LCA is next in line.

If logistics structure will not be prepared than 124 tanks will also be useless.
Indeed a very basic aspect has been ignored for looooong time!

I remember in Past indian members use to claim that infrastructure is well in place.

.
We had lots of argument of Arjuns with Indian in other posts. If Arjun is really ditch by IA, i think all the argument done by Indian bro will be wasted. We heard how good is Arjun as compare to other tank. This is a myth!

They were waste anyways, do you think anyone in India or otherwise cares what is discussed here?

Point remains that India gained valuable experience building a tank from scratch.

Besides, T-90 is one of the best out there. Arjun faced stiff competition and I'm sure DRDO will learn from the mistakes.

Also, I must point out that private companies should be encouraged to participate in the defense sector in India. Given an opportunity, L&T and Tata can surely play a major constructive role in India's quest for an indigenous tank.

Till then, we can all enjoy the ride on the Russian T-90s. :)

PDF Indian ego will be hurt badly this time!

We will wait for LCA or LCH announcement soon!

What was the logistics issue?

Seems like it was a failed project rather than a failed product.

The fundamental problem within all technological projects is that the techies always focus upon what cool stuff they can deliver, rather than what the stakeholders really want.

If the Arjun stands below par in something that the Army really wanted (as compared to the T-90), it won't make sense to put their weight behind it.

.
But how can that happen??? trials are not over yet???? Lets wait for the trials...

Arjun was pure knee jerk reaction from the Indian Army after Pakistan acquired US tanks. In their mind, for that time, they wanted a heavy tank. The tactics back then, were were short sighted and thus was born a beast that did not find a place in the army for multiple reasons.

Having said all that, your summary is sadly true!!!! Arjun, unfortunately is not the type of tank India would want to include in 2009-2010!

Whatever Next Gen MBT India, comes up with, being a joint collaboration or not, it would carry along valuable lessons from Arjun.

The only thing I would have loved to see is the army own up to some mistakes they made, if not all, just some.....:frown:

So basically arjun was built to counter old sherman tanks......

Anyway....everything happens for good....so we can expect more T90s coming to india.

Yeah, hell lot of t-90's are heading towards India....... I dont know... DRDO must work on Arjun MK II.... Current arjun is too late to display its might..... If the same was Displayed on 2000, Army would have inducted it...

.
This news item is BS. Remember the article by indian express by manu pubby. The fact is Arjun will be inducted in considerable number in the coming years. I am surprised how everybody reacted as if this article is a final word. On the other hand, this is the first time that strong voices from armed forces in favor of Arjun highlighting its advantages over T-90 are coming out.

No confirmation in Bharat Rakshak about this either. No doubt there are some ******** in indian army who will oppose anything that will deprive them of wads of currency, but this time govt has made up its mind in favor of arjun. So take this article with a pinch of salt.

Most importantly, do not forget Putin bhaiyya is coming to india. So, kuch to mahol banana padega.

So guys just relax.

.
I think the total project time which sunk Arjun coze we are atleast 10yr behind sachdule and if we did not order 1000 T-90 may be we got more order. But last month i read that IA want 124 more Arjun.
