What's new

It's official. No more Arjuns!!!

some people are reacting as if we've lost a war...
arjun is a great tank for today.,..but that is not how massive orders for armor are placed....
an MBT needs to have a decent shelf-life of 15-20 years to meet most other MBTs in challenge...Arjun is great for todays battles...but that is it.

we need more design bureaus...to ease off pressure....

Livefist and Shiv Aroor have been announced as the official spokesman for the Arjun Project i think. Sensationalism at its best and so much has been discussed about it too!! "Its Official, no more Arjuns".

The LCA too had problems and the IAF capped it at 40 units of it and decided to go for upgraded models. The Army may well not take the current Arjun beyond the 124, but the upgrades will come and will be inducted. The Arjun had problems but has been rectified to a great extent. The only major problem that remains with it is the logistics issue which is obviously something that can be resolved. So much has gone into Arjun which in terms of capability is up there with the rest that it cannot be abandoned completely.

For the Pakistani guys, are you sure that India had not learned a thing from this failure? Judging from how LCA is being handled now, the answer is a "NO" But maybe the next project will be different
As for the Indian guys in here, don't always look to the next project. With that attitute, the next project will fail just like the current one. As I mentioned, DRDO is not capable of design and manufacture tanks or planes by itself fast enough to compete against all the available foreign variations. It needs help.

hey relax dude.... LCA is our first major Fighter Aircraft which we are developing, We did not have any technical Know how what so ever about a supersonic modern Aircraft... IAF's Demands Constantly Changed, accordingly LCA Got delayed... Its not the way You think that our Scientists were delaying it..... Now that the IAF is Impressed with its performance, It has ordered 40 and Is looking ahead with LCA Mk2 , and the Navy has also shown Interest in 20 LCA naval version..

Now LCA is A Good Fighter For Today,But IAF is expecting that Aircraft to stay in our fleet for more than 2-3 decades, so an Upgraded MK2 would do better for IAF

its as simple as that....

Pak has got a big order of JF-17 from Egypt and there is so many potential buyer such as Azerbaijan, Iran,Syria, etc.

How about Arjun and LCA?:azn:

Just for correction, Azerbaijan have already negiotated either with China or Pakistan. So its beyond "potential buyer".

In another word, as India is looking to purchase 126 more foreign aircraft, it will cap the number of LCA. Also, according to you, LCA will not be around for 2-3 decades. Sounds like another failed project to me.

Its ok to fail. All countries suffer failed projects. Its that India's failed projects are very glaring in defence sector and is highlighted by members in this forum. But admit failure is better than induct the weapons that most Indian soldiers has no trust in and could lead to death. India is not too prideful to admit failure of Arjun and LCA. Good for India
