i believe you mentioned this number 57 before, about IN's plans to procure 57 fighters for IAC 1 and beyond.
Rafale Marine is already looking a very good option, if chosen.

Tejas will come back to the IN in the form of Mk-2 sometime next decade, no worries there.

1. Naval Tejas was a TD.
2. Naval Tejas in its current form was never offered to IN for operational role.
3. As of now Naval Tejas in its current form is below the expectation of Navvy.
4. In future when the platform gets more matured ( MK2-naval version) it may got to Navvy for evaluation.
5. Work done on the naval version may be assimilated in the Air Force version
6. Making naval A/C is far more challenging than conventional one.

Well you don't have much of a Navy, AC is way out of your league, for the rest your Navy is easy meat for IN. Rafale is overkill because there isn't any aircraft you can get that can counter the Rafale effectively. Old enough to know that Pak will continue to loose any wars it starts with India as always.
