Israel set to deliver warning to US over Iran

This is what I wrote to the NY Times' Comments about Obama's speech to the AIPAC. Let there be no war in our region.

Given that Iran is an NPT signatory, it has no reason to say that, Nuclear Weapon Technology is it's internal issue. Iran signed the treaty, got benefits for it.
Now, Can we really be sure of Iran's intentions? IAEA's reports, Israel's concerns about Proliferation to a non state actor from Iran, all the possibilities along with the obsessively anti-Jewish mind set of Hezbollah, Ayatollahs and Passive Arab support do not give an impression of secure environment in the region for Israel.

Why can't Iran prove beyond doubt it's intentions by letting in to it's installations an independent inspection committee other than IAEA, which has experts from Israel and US only?

So attack a country because of, so far, speculation that Iran may be developing nukes? Cause millions of deaths? Global economic meltdown? North Korea flouts NPT. Does blatant nuke tests. Fires missiles over the Sea of Japan. And gets away. Why is that? Because North Korea does not have the Israeli Lobby riding on its back.

BTW, while it is far from sure Iran is developing nukes--it may be laying down the infrastructure for it--just in case, it is also evident that nukes seem to provide some kind of insurance against an overt attack. And don't give me example of Pakistan to say that nukes are not a deterrent. They are, even for Pakistan.

Fact is, to paraphrase Chomsky, Israelis want to be the top bully in the region and nukes afford them that bullying power. The bullying power ensures Israel can dictate its policies in the region, starting from gobbling up the Palestinians' land. Iran challenges that. And Iran with nukes will also deprive Israel of the advantage.

The present NK regime has reformed and is giving up its nuclear program and is allowing inspection teams to verify, Other than Israel if Iran gets nukes other ME countries like SA, UAE will feel threatened and will scramble to get nukes as well to balance the equation. What happens in such a scenario is the world will have multiple volatile countries possessing nukes in the Gulf. Thats a bad scenario.

i think this is going out of hands. India can only wait and watch. should the US/Israel attack the Nuclear installations of Iran, we can only pray that, the attacks be quick, clinical, causing no civilian causalities (or minimum) and help Iran in furthering the cause of Political reforms which the regime is resisting for years.

You mean surgical, right? :)

Wow, apocalyptic you are i see, why would there be millions of death and economic meltdown? it is not like US and Russia or China are at war.

"do not wish upon others what you do not want upon yourself"

What about the same for Israel with only Iranian, Russian and Chinese inspectors. no Indians please!

Not only that, if Israel's nukes are proven to be real, most arab nations will seek them too.

so you mean to say iran is powerful??:hitwall:

So Israel can deliver warnings -at will- even to the US.
This remainders me of a Mafia boss's son in a school-yard, he can deliver warnings up to the schools principle if he chooses to.
They must be grabbing the US from its balls on something and people should find out.

You see what the Israelis dont understand is that we the Iranian did not actually have anything against them to begin with.
as soon as this mutant ahmadinejad came to power all the tough sanctionc started pouring. the Iranian people suffer because of some indivudual ideologies in Iran.

However the zionist went too far by killing our scientists. Now we have a reason to hate you.
If you dare attack Iran we will all unite again you, wether we hate or love the mulla,Islam..it does not matter. just go ahead and attack if you dare.

we fought off sadam for 8 years and won in the end even though everyone was backing them...

I dont agree with you about Ahmadinejad but you are right. After the scientist killings the ''neutral'' Iranians even started hating them. Our battle has now become legitimate and be sure that we will win it

Warning after Warning and more warning !!!...

WTH are these people doing.... are these people working for media 24/7 to feed them with news

Israel would be wise to listen to Obama's advice on Iran

Israel would do well to internalize an important statement by Obama: 'As president and commander in chief, I have a deeply-held preference for peace over war.'

U.S. President Barack Obama didn't wait for his private meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to clarify his position on Iran's nuclear program. Speaking at the annual conference of AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the U.S. leader urged everyone to set the war drums aside.

After reiterating his commitment to Israel's peace and security, the president made it clear that the United States would consider using military force to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons only after it was convinced that sanctions and other diplomatic tools had been exhausted. He also promised to keep up the pressure on Iran and deepen its isolation.

Obama, who was playing on Netanyahu's home court at the height of an election year, criticized the excessive talk about war with Iran. Hinting at both Israeli government officials and the Republican presidential candidates, who have been vying with each other in calling for war, Obama said this was causing oil prices to rise, which in turn helped finance Iran's nuclear program. The president said that excessive public discussion of the Iranian issue not only undermined the security of both America and the world, but Israel's security too.

The unnecessary statements by Israeli leaders are drawing fire on Israel. The government would be wise to listen attentively to President Obama's advice and adopt the sage counsel of former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt: "Speak softly and carry a big stick." The U.S. president carries the biggest stick in the world.

The government would also do well to internalize another important statement by Obama: "As president and commander in chief, I have a deeply-held preference for peace over war."

This worldview is also appropriate when it comes to the conflict with the Palestinians, which has been pushed aside by the Iranian issue. It must be hoped that Obama will utilize his meeting with Netanyahu Monday to underscore the consequences that a collapse of the diplomatic process and a violent conflict in the territories would have for the American and international effort to halt both Iran's nuclear program and its terrorism.
