We didn't try enough. There is no reason for these helpless people to fire such light homemade rockets. No excuses..IR is more than 4 decades in power and the military assistance they provided is not enough. 137 rockets overwhelming the Iron Dome in 5 minutes is a very simple feat amongst a 2nd rate national power. Most countries would be able to overwhelm the system quite quickly, but alas they have to bully Gaza because of their limitations. Iron Dome is a great system but with serious vulnerabilities not easily apparent until confronted with a more powerful entity.

It's not just Iron Dome, any system can be overwhelmed with a barrage that rapid.

137 rockets in 300 second (5 minutes) is like 1 rocket fired every 2 seconds.

I don't think any AD has a chance at intercepting every rocket in a barrage of 1 rocket per 2 seconds for 5 minutes straight. Some of them are going to hit because 1 Iron Dome unit has 4 launchers with 20 Tamir missiles on each launcher. So after 80 missiles from 1 unit, it has to reload, and that's when the barrage can punch through Iron Dome.

Basically the first 80 rockets in any barrage are to knock out Israeli AD system, any rockets after the 80th are the ones that are aimed at real targets

Hamas can play that game because they have so many rockets that they will not run out even at high barrage rates.
