Israel backs India's bid for permanent UNSC membership

.
Why I am not surprised? What else can we accept? Conspiracies are surrounding us from all sides. Pakistan helped US during the whole of cold war when US was fighting for its survival and when it won the cold war, US ditched Pakistan and instead went for India the cold war opponent. Maybe Pakistan should also ditch US and join the opposing forces too.

Pakistan Should Support India's bid too !!

.
why are you bringing Pakistan into the equation ? This has nothing to do with Pakistan. we have bilateral relationship and both countries are reaping huge advantage out of this. It has nothing to do with conspiracy against Pakistan. There are lot of deals apart from defence deak between India and Israel.

.
Why do we need that status?

It is a status symbol, nothing more.

It does not improve the strength of your economy or the fundamentals of your administrative systems.

In fact, Russia has been weakening steadily over the past few decades, from being a superpower until what it currently is now. All while holding a UNSC veto.

Israel backs India's bid for permanent UNSC membership - Express India

Jerusalem Describing India as the “greatest democracy on earth”, Israel has said it wants New Delhi to become a permanent member of the expanded United Nations Security Council.
Welcoming External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, the first Indian foreign minister to arrive in Israel in over a decade, President Shimon Peres said Tel Aviv was following New Delhi with “great care and interest”.

“For us India is first of all a culture. Then it is for us the greatest democracy on earth and then the unbelievable achievement of overcoming poverty without becoming poor in freedom,” he said last night.

“I wish that India would become a permanent member of the Security Council,” Peres said, backing India's bid to become a permanent member of the UN's top body.

In his address, Peres called Mahatma Gandhi a “prophet” and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru a “king”.

“India was fortunate it had two great and unforgettable leaders -- one was a prophet and the other one was a king. The combination of Gandhi and Nehru is the most unusual,” he said.

Peres, who has visited India twice since diplomatic ties between the two countries was set 20 years ago, said: “We are following India with great care and interest, not just in the political sense but being a citizen of the world, we think that without India and China, hunger would govern the world.”

Krishna complimented back by calling Peres “a statesman of caliber”. He credited Israel for being an inspiration for India becoming self-sufficient in food production.

The minister recalled Peres' visit to India in 1992 and also in 2002 and credited him for setting up the agenda for strengthening relations between the two countries.

“I think it's about time for the leadership of both countries to set the agenda for the coming decade. So I think it is in that spirit that I have come here,” he said.

Talking about the wars that Israel has fought, reference of which was made by Peres first in his address, Krishna said Israel has emerged stronger.

“I think it was those wars that have strengthened your nation. I think you have emerged as a stronger nation after every war. I think the entire world looks to you with great respect,” Krishna said.

The minister said he was very happy that relationship between India and Israel has spread to so many areas.

“We look forward to continued bilateral relationship... politically there are no problems as such. Now I think the economic content has to become more assertive and the economic content has to keep growing. I think the relationship is going on very healthy,” Krishna said.

Krishna will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today, besides holding talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Cooperation in defence, security, agriculture and science and technology are expected to figure prominently in discussions amid India's keenness to widen the scope of partnership in the field of defence, the sources said.

They said from a buyer-seller relationship, both sides are looking at expanding their relations.

Anti-terror cooperation is also expected to figure in the discussions, against the backdrop of growth in this aspect of the relationship since the Mumbai 2008 attacks in which six Israeli nationals were killed.

It is only proper that the world`s biggest democracy becomes a permanent UNSC member with full rights.

When Israel backs a country its always for their own purpose and will sell India when the situation will arise. Seriosulty the Indo-Israeli alliance is only good as India is worth to ISrael which is not much judging on how both racist the Israelis and Indians are.

Israel just can't stand Pakistan and Islam. Good luck to Israel on their war against Pakistan, YOU NEEED IT EVERY INCH OF IT AND HECK A LOT MORE !

Causing terrorist attack on Pakistani soil and blaming them for that, not mention organise attacks on your own citzerns like the mumbi bombingand blaming that on pakistan as well and Kashimire is hardly a relationship with Pakistan.

and india will give her back to israel in return:D

nyways who cares who give back to whom:p

India should give naval/submarine base to Israel so that they can refuel and maintain second strike capability in case of overwhelming nuclear BM attack on them.

Asia doesn't only mean yellow race. who is representing the south asian brown race ? well even if taking out race of equation, asia's problem aren't limited to north asia alone. asia is da largest continent and more representation is required and what better than a representation from indian subcontinent which itself is like a continent.

i just tried to keep it in ur style. :)

Since when was UNSC about race?

. .
India crave for UNSC permanent member is just a wolf cry, nothing more than that..i certainly couldn't understand what we'll gain by becoming a permanent member of UNSC...we are already a non-permanent member of UNSC but when it comes to voting we either vote under US influence(eg. Voting against Iran in IAEA in case of nuclear proliferation) or we just don't vote when it comes to UNSC resolution of NATO's involvement in ARAB SPRING just to show our non Align Policy...u dont need a VETO power to feed hungry or to roll out a development program and make sure that it is implemented at grass root level..

dude, u missed da whole picture. if india get veto power, it can be independent henceforth focusing on its interests. then it won't need to get under american influence against anyone.

.
We don't represent the Yellow race (East Asians) in the UNSC. We represent China, not Japan or Korea.

Same as how India does not represent all South Asians, just Indians.

Anyway, I think there definitely needs to be representatives from Latin America, Africa and the Middle East too. I don't know if China can openly endorse a rival like India though.

well i think china shud endorse india. its in chinese interests to make india more powerful internationally. u know what it can lead to (remember sino-indian collaboration on carbon emission). more india wud be under the influence of america due to its lack of high international status, more headache for china.

its good for the region to keep america away and for that u need to develop another power.

tough it has its drawbacks that no more tawang or kashmir dreams but ultimately we all know its gonna be a dream forever, this way or that way. but we all know who is the warmongering country in this world today and whole intension shud be to keep it away.

Everyone is under American influence.

Britain votes with America, and they can usually get France to go along as well.

Russia and China usually abstain from voting when the USA gives us good concessions in return.

That is yet another reason why the USA is called a superpower, and the rest of us are not.

Sad but true.

since when was UNSC about regional representation ? (as mentioned by CD)

.
India may be a UNSC power in the future, but I doubt if it'd have veto power anytime soon.
