what i care is "348 km's inside india Vs 57 km's inside Pakistan"""
case dismissed

i would swap a resource rich fertile plain for a mud fort in desert at any given day

The performance of the Army did not match that of the PAF (Pakistani Air Force) mainly because the leadership was not as professional. They had planned the ‘Operation Gibralter’ (infiltration into J&K) for self glory rather than in the national interest. It was a wrong war. And they misled the nation with a big lie that India rather than Pakistan had provoked the war and that we were the victim of Indian aggression.”

Awesome :enjoy:

How much deep India came??

After that Indians should keep their mouths shut on this thread about how much more they have captured land in Pakistan.

Mods please look into it and clean thread @Horus @waz

Let me answer your question. I would put all victories of both India and Pakistan of 65 war without any biased commentary.. You are wise enough to guess who was winning the war.

First indian victories.

Lahore sector:

Indians were able to penetrate a few miles into Pakistani territory after a surprise night attack and managed to capture some land right next to border. They manged to capture territory till town of Barki. Indian advanced however was stalled beyond this town. They often post this picture very often thinking they captured Lahore.

Brig.Hari_Singh_at_Barkee_Capture.jpg

This town of Barkee which is part of Lahore district and not Lahore city. All the land up to Wahga border is part of Lahore district.

The town of Barkee however is just 7-8 kilometers from the border.

Sialkot Sector:

Here Indians won the battle of Phelora. They advanced further till town of Chawinda. Same chawinda where biggest battle of tanks after 2nd world war was fought. The distance of Chawinda from international border is 17 kilometers.

At Chawinda Indian advance was halted till the end of war. At chawinda Pakistan successfully stopped Indian advancement.

Hajirpir Sector:

Another important victory is of Hajipir pass. It is a strategic pass in the Kashmir or in Poonch sector. Haji pir pass is situated very close to LOC. It is around 8.5-9 km from LOC today.

These are the major victories of India in 65 war. There might be a few minor victories too but the major ones are these 3.

Pakistani victories:

Akhnor Sector:

Pakistan made fierce advancements in this sector. In fact it was the losses in this sector that forced India to give back strategic Hajir Pir pass after the war.

Pakistan reached beyond Chamb and and came very close to threaten Akhnoor town. This is the reason Indians decided to give back Haji pir pass to get back territory in this sector. Akhnoor is around 7.5 km from border today.

Khemkaran Sector:

Pakistan captured the town of Khemkaran and made further advance till Asal Uttar. This is where Indians managed to decisively stop Pakistani advance. Asal Uttar is around 9.5 km from the international border.

Rajhistan Sector:

Indian attack in this sector was a total failure. Indians not only failed to capture anything in this sector. They also lost a major part of territory in this sector. The kishangarh fort picture that was posted above was posted in previous pages is part of this campaign. It is 338 km from the international border.

This is the total neutral synopsis of this war. You can guess yourself that despite having all the superiority in numbers and resources, whether Indians won this war or not.

Anyways who cares. Not the chai wala government in Delhi who is celebrating 65 war "victory" while beating the hell out of its 65 war veterans.

Kishangarh fort - 338 Km? Do you know what that means? Jodhpur would have been in Pakistan's hands. :hitwall: Kishangarh is a regular name and it's ON the IB.

Kishangarh that Pakistan took was 10 km inside Indian territory near the Jaisalmer bridge.

Also Asal Uttar was retaken and so was Khemkaran when the ceasefire was declared.

The only Pakistani successes were in the air and in the Akhnoor sector(which Yahya squandered away). A couple of more weeks and Pak forces would have run out of ammo. Indian forces, due to their larger size would not have.

Your numerical inferiority is no excuse for the dismal performance as it was the Pak armed forces that took the initiative. Against an army that was defeated 3 years before by China, blockaded by the US and undergoing a famine like situation.

.
Only politician to die in indo-pak wars is then chief minister of Indian state of Gujarat Balwant Rai Mehta. PAF shot down his aircraft well inside Indian territory thinking it to be a reconnaissance aircraft.

IAF was nowhere around. It might be busy in preparations of India's "victory".

OK. Anyways attack in Thar desert sector was a total failure for India.

I know. Just like Hajir pir, Chamb, Barkee and Phelora were returned when the ceasefire was declared.

The only Pakistani successes were in the air and in the Akhnoor sector(which Yahya squandered away).

The word "only" here is just bullsh!t. I have already posted victories of Pakistan above.

Your numerical inferiority is no excuse for the dismal performance as it was the Pak armed forces that took the initiative. Against an army that was defeated 3 years before by China, blockaded by the US and undergoing a famine like situation.

And your famine, 62 war etc are no excuse for failure to capture any major city of Pakistan despite their close presence to international border and after your claims of having a party at Lahore gymkhana.

Now all of us can only imagine, if your soldiers may have shown a bit more of courage, when we were out of ammo.
US diverted all the ammunition to India.

This ammo debate makes no sense. If Pakistan was almost out of ammo why would India accept the ceasefire? They could have recaptured their lost territory and gained the ones they captured.

Thar desert attack was a feint. Like Pakistani attack in Gujarat was. Both 'failed' in that sense. India did not have cross desert vehicles. So a successful attack was out of the question. Forces allocated was also few. Pakistani forces fell into the trap and initiated a counter attack thereby committing their few forces in a sector where gains would be minimized by terrain. Pakistan also had minimal cross desert capability.

The places like Asal Uttar etc were taken before the ceasefire. The only Pakistani success was, I repeat, at Akhnoor ridge and actions of the PAF. And remember Pakistan was the best economy in the region then, while India, for its size was the worst. Khem Karan was not fully taken as a part of it falls across the river and it does not make sense in war to defend undefendable areas. Both sides withdrew from such bridgeheads during the conflict.

This ammo debate makes no sense. If Pakistan was almost out of ammo why would India accept the ceasefire? They could have recaptured their lost territory and gained the ones they captured.
It makes into Amin's book as well. The Indians were apprehensive because the Chinese were breathing down their necks. It made sense for India to hurry the end of the conflict lest the Chinese join in. Sino Russian relations were not good. So we had little room to continue attacks.

US backed and armed you as pakistan was the member of CENTO

Nope. Pakistan gained 10% of Rann of Katch its attack on Gujarat. and dikdn't lose even an inch of what it controlled.

Both 'failed' in that sense.

Nope. You are wrong.
India did not have cross desert vehicles. So a successful attack was out of the question. Forces allocated was also few.

No Pakistan's problem for sure.

India did not have cross desert vehicles. So a successful attack was out of the question. Forces allocated was also few.

You can call it a trap. Pakistanis would call it a success since they not only repulsed India attack but also captured territory there.

The places like Asal Uttar etc were taken before the ceasefire.

You only took asal uttar. Khem Karan and surrounding territory like that of Fazilka was returned after ceasefire. Stop the lies please.

The only Pakistani success was, I repeat, at Akhnoor ridge and actions of the PAF.

That's what you think. The facts say otherwise.

It was as per an arbitration at the UN. It was not decided by the war. :) This was just before Grand Slam.

:D Okay. It was a glorious success. Such successes can be costly. Especially when you are numerically inferior. Your problem is that you are very emotional and romantic about your nation, religion and war. Think in an objective manner. PAF interception techniques was taught in IAF battle schools. That was how we improved.

In the ceasefire we had to return about 4 times the land we lost. Simply because China was bringing in troops and Russia had warned us that they would not help us longer. Our hands were tied as a result.
