Right....and how much money he has? Over a billion rupees in properties in Pakistan and in a bank account. Then, $ 200 + million channeled to buy an empire in Dubai, the US, Turkey, London, etc. This was the US aid money used for "his" purposes when the money was sent for the people of Pakistan. How about that?

Will one of you dictator lovers like to comment on that? No, you people are hypocrites because you belong to that military clan. So a general can rob your country back to ages, and that's allowed and you won't say a word. But, the song "Civilians are Corrupt" is sung every 2 minutes. Everyone's corrupt and the military is a lot more. You forgot that big builder Malik? I met his son in law at a business conference and after a few drinks, he shared with me the amount of money they paid to even lower level military officers like Colonels and Captains so he could build his housing society and I believe some of that was leaked out with proofs too.

The changes in Musharraf's time were to hide the money trail (for aid from the US), through using contracting companies his ex-general buddies owned to build Islamabad or transporting NATO supplies. What about that? Why didn't Mr. Musharraff think about the electric shortage and the population growth and school and universities and health system, same shiit that you are using to malign other good work that you are too jealous to see and tolerate?

Take a look at the warm and loving reception Gen. Raheel gets. Take another look at the time Musharraf spend in Pakistan. The country he once protected, doesn't want him back. But a few geniuses like you, will write books on his greatness while he enjoys Jim Beam's Whiskey twice a day! HA!
For once stop shooting from your arse. You always come up with your superficial know how of military and state matters. Before you spewed how corrupt Musharaf was, we weren't measuring who corrupted the nations money. It's about Islamabad, so keep it to that. Islamabad was the actual "Capital" before the current government invested every chunk of capital development fund in Punjab. You're unaware of the state dynamics since you're an expat.

No Paksitani university fell in top 1000 universities list even prior to his government and had 11 pakistani universities listed in that list in just 5-7 years.

Higher Education

  • The state of higher education in Pakistan was in a pathetic condition prior to his government. We had 27 universities; the number of Ph.Ds and engineers per million population was only 112 –about one – third of the minimum standards prescribed by the UNESCO. We had the stock of only 2600 science Ph.D and the country was producing barely 50-60 per annum.
  • His government launched a multi – pronged strategy, including the establishment of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
  • He provided substantial resources to higher education. The development budget for higher education increased from Rs. 500 million to Rs. 30 billion in 2006-07 .
  • Number of universities increased to 180 in 2006-07 from 27 in 1998-99.
  • Number of students enrolled in universities increased from 276 thousands to 1.2 million – more than three fold increase in enrolment in universities.
  • Number of Ph.Ds produced by Pakistani universities increased sharply to 624 from as low as 50 – 60.
  • There were 3800 students sent abroad for higher education (Ph.D) in foreign universities.
  • There were 3508 students enrolled in Ph.D Programs in Pakistani universities.
Health

  • Various Health indicators also improved during his government. for example, children aged 12-23 months immunized increased from 53% in 2000-01to 76% in 2006-07.
  • Life expectancy increased from 63 years in 2000 to 66.5 years by 2008
  • Infant mortality rate declined from 83.3 per 1000 infants in 2000 to 65 by 2008.
  • Social Sector and Poverty – Related Expenditures Increased from Rs. 167 billion (3.8% of GDP) to Rs. 500 billion (5.7 % of GDP)
  • During 1998-1999 total health expenditure was Rs 10 billion which had increased to Rs 50 billion.
  • There had been an increase of about 20,000 registered doctors, around 3,000 registered dentists, about 15,000 nurses, and 56,000 lady health workers. The quantity, quality and distribution of this workforce were being improved.
  • During 2000-2008 health indicators had shown gradual improvement.
  • Many new initiatives in the health sector were undertaken during this period, including the Expanded Program of Immunization; Polio Eradication Programme; Hepatitis Control Programme; Primary Health Care Programme, TB Prevention & Control Programme; Aids Prevention & Control Programme; Blindness Prevention & Control Programme; National Maternal and Child Health Programme; and National Nutrition Program.
  • Ø President’s Special Initiative on Health sector were started. Under this initiative all the resources in BHUs/ RHCs were being computerized and complete integration of Primary Health Service at BHUs were being pursued to improve the health care delivery system. Programme implemented at 837 BHU & all over Pakistan.
  • Ø Public health related legislations enacted since 1999-2000 for promotion of healthy causes such as Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-smokers, Promotion of Breastfeeding and Child Nutrition. Transfusion of Safe Blood, Medical Aid to Injured Persons and Safe Use of Injections & Invasive medical devices.
  • Legislation to regulate Tissues and Organ Transplantation had been carried out.

Sir As far as sanctity of constitution and democracy is concerned , I stand with you , civilian supremacy should never be compromised. However saying aid money was used for personal purposes isn't correct. Pakistan had engaged in operations since 2004, CSF funding was not even enough to fulfill even the quarter of the costs, as operations are expensive. Moreover NATO supply trucks used Pakistani roads, with 20,000 trucks going into Afghanistan daily, US operated 3 airbases in Musharaf era for logistical purpose in Afghan operations and evacuated them later. The funding also had a component for these bases, roads and these services provided by Pakistan. Pakistan's economy was growing at 6% GDP growth rate with around $18 Billion in reserves upto 2007, to say a someone used CSF funding paid directly to the State Bank of the country of the country is a naive statement.
At the same time I must say economy has improved to a simmilar level once again the way it was in 2006. We need to call spade a spade, yes dictatorship is unacceptable but economically the performance was decent pretty similar to today's period and much better than PPP era.

You clearly didn't read my post. My question was, do you understand when you run infrastructure projects at a national level, you do things in phases? Does every single hospital is owned by the Government? What did the previous governments and the beloved military rule do to increase the healthcare capacity in their combined 55 years of rule?

People like you should be thankful, the shiit that was never built in the past 70 years, is being built in the past 4 years and only idiots expect 70 years of mess to be cleaned up in 5 years.

people like me thankfull for what for having a corrupt leader whose name propped up in panama scandal whose daughter claimed in 2008 that these r not their properties but in fact according to their claim they bought it in 2006 a blatant lie ..... thankful for wat ??? for our corrupt pm shaking hand with mr.10 % to save his pmship??? thankfull for what ?? for all those fake noora leagi votes found in bags in all 4 constituencies and then claim them to b legitamte to form a gov??? how many institutions did pmln gov have made to work for ppl????

cpec started at musharraf's time not in any democratic government.. soo dont give any credit to these so called corrupt jamhoriat pasand governments...... these jamhoriyat pasand governments r good for weaken the state institutions just see punjab police, potwari culture, look at the state of education and health in Punjab...

Have you forgotten kulbushan yadev episode of do i have to remind u that also....

people like u make me really sad because if as u say u r in US then i expect u to be educated not an uneducated guy who blindly follow a person who is well known around the world as a corrupt person .....

Only in Pakistan do fly-overs and "interchanges" get people so excited. The infrastructure we need critically is better healthcare, security/policing, etc.

Sources for all these allegations please.

How much was the US aid money ,not more than 6-7 billion dollars from 2001-2007 during his tenure and only half of which was military aid which was actually the amount for the services provided by Pakistan Army to US including arrests of key Al-Qaeda leaders,NATO supply and logistics as well as usage of Pakistani airbases while civilian aid wasn't given directly to Pakistan government,it was indirectly spent by USAID via NGO's and investements in other development projects by itsef which faced 75% reduction due to USAID's own marketing and administrative expenses and only 25% of civilian aid was spent on Pakistan by USAID.The aid which you are talking about is still being taken by these demoncrazies. So what's happening with that now?

he has zero sources but we have many sources in which we can easy tell that his noora is a corrupt guy :omghaha::omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

Ganjoo's don't focus on Islamabad a bit. Ever since General Musharaf is gone there hasn't been a single mega project except housing societies for the elite and wiping out the green belts. If it was upto Ganjoo's they would make Lahore the capital.

One of the best interchange( build quality like bridges on M2, soundless), on the best 10 lane road of Pakistan.

1: I can't give you sources for which I am a personal witness (referring to Mr. Malik's son in law comment). Whenever they come to the US for shopping and business / fun, he has lunch or dinner with me. I think he now runs a sister business and apparently I named it for him after the Citi bank. This one time he asked to give him a cool name as he was starting his own construction business. I am a Citi customer so I told him Citi Construction. He later sent me an email letting me know that he picked my name and named that company Citi homes or something.

2: From what he told me, the proofs were even released on youtube with Army men taking $$$$. So I guess you should do some research yourself.

3: Are you really calling these "accusations"? Wasn't this on the global media not too long ago that Mr. Musharaf had over a billion rupees in cash in his Pakistani bank account? While he's had farms and other stuff. It feels like he didn't "server" his country. More like he ran Google as a CEO . Military men retire decent, not rich. And this billion wasn't including anything he had in Dubai, Turkey, the UK and the US. You should use some common sense before questioning a publicly known fact.

4: Here is a REAL military-man, Mr. RS. This is what I call a true soldier and an honest citizen. This guy's set your military's culture by 180 degrees. I've even heard it from people who have contact with Pakistani military. He openly called out for corruption to be punished and had put in some senior most officials under court martial. Some of those guys, were Mr. Musharaf's hands in old times too.

I hope you understand the reason for my post. It is not to insult anyone. It is for you guys to realize corrupt people in your own profession hurt your country. Always do the right thing, call every thief with equal disgust, whether its from the military or the civilians side. No matter where corruption happens, it screws over your entire nation and obviously, when caught, results in great insult for that specific organization too.

Sir, Islamabad isn't new to me and nor should you think I've not been to it. It was always a nice and higher end city compared to other cities. The topic of Mushy came in when someone like you, was praising the gift of God called Musharaf to the nation of Pakistan (which history has it, was one of the worst dictators of his time). So I decided to chime in.

On the current government, I don't really want to say a lot. Why? Because we respect and follow a system. I'd give them their turn and would judge them when they leave. If there are proven and factual cases like there are ample proofs, etc, about Musharaf or Zardari, then you will find me giving them the same respect like I am giving to Musharaf or Zardari. If they have no cases proven, and they made a difference in people's lives, well, I'll have good things to say about them.

At the end, it is not about a few of you who come from a military background so they are sticky loyal to even the most corrupt dictator in Pakistan's history. Its also not about a few of Mr. Khan or Mr. Sharif's fans. It is about the people of your country and who was able to make a difference in their daily, poor and hard life. If someone did, you'll see the results in the votes and I will also give them courtesy. The rest are thieves and all talk. Talk doesn't take a nation forward.

Read your own founder's history. The guy fought alone to what could be called a the biggest power of its time (the UK) and the Indians, without firing a weapon. He built a country for his people on his death bed. Now that is leadership, dedication and hard-work. Which of the above names can show me 10% of that hard work, legacy and loyalty to their homeland??
