Is there ever going to be reformation movement in Islam like the one European Christianity went through in 14th-15th century and the countless reformation movements in Hinduism over centuries? I think reformation is is not feasible in Islam, since separation of mosque-military-state is not acceptable as per basic foundations of Islam.

why ask a question you already know the answer to?
islam is never going to change, how ever the fundamentalists who are a threat our fellow citizens lives will eventually go away for good.
islam how ever is going to be exactly the same as it was 1400 yrs ago.

An interesting read.

Somehow I think this violence will keep escalating among Muslims till it becomes unbearable and backbreaking...and then Muslims will reform.

Just like how Christianity forced itself down the throats of people so much that Christians evolved and separated church from state.

we all know the cause of this violence, and by we i mean muslims(shia, sunni, wahabi)
sure we don't agree on certain things but 99.9 percent of us don't want this violence, it is a cowardly act that foreign sponsored terrorists are trying to create rifts, these foreign cowards are attempting to divide and conquer, which they are pathetic at because they cant hide what they are doing.and it is becoming more and more obvious now to everybody who is the hand behind these mercenaries and people are not blaming each other any more but have decided to unite and combat this cow worshipping cowards.

our founder was a Shia, our population is sunni, Bhutto was Shia, Nawaz i think is Wahabi.

It's bound to happen one day, it's pretty much inevitable. Every religion and civilization has to go through reformation eventually, why should Islam be any different?

If that happens, it would shake the very foundations of Islam. The Koran and Hadiths will have to be questioned, which is not acceptable in Islam...

Wonder when the Islamic equivalent of Da Vinci Code will come out :)

Any talk of reformation in Islam will involve discussions relating to the personal character and actions of the prophet of Islam, which could open the Pandoras box about the basics of Islam. The blasphemy laws in the Islamic states are designed to prevent this from happening. The people who have high stakes in Islam Viz. clerics, Arabs etc. will do anything to prevent the ordinary Muslims access to information relating to scriptures and history of origins of Islam. They have framed rules and scared the ordinary people into ignorance, so that they will not raise uncomfortable questions..

We know what happened to Salman Rushdie. Will anyone dare to repeat it?

when I say equivalent of da vinci code, I mean not only challenging the tenets of Islam but also gaining the popularity among common muslims as da vinci code got among common Christians...

He's still alive though right?

Yep, Rushdie is still alive, with a big bounty on his head.. He lived in hiding for a long time and UK government had to provide him with protection.
Theodoor "Theo" van Gogh, who produced the movie 'Submission', which criticized the treatment of women in Islam, was not so lucky.

For Christians, they can read DaVinci code and still remain devout Christians, since the basic tenets of Christianity are still fundamentally strong.

Oh right, I heard about that.

The guys in Denmark who drew the offensive cartoons are still alive, but quite a few people died in the riots over it.

Any discussion about Islam will be turned into issue of blasphemy by the muslims and suppress it at the bud. No wonder muslims feign super sensitive and go hyper when someone, someplace, don't conform to the politically correctness when dealing with Islamic issues.

nice.. so true.. Islam as I have always said is not a religion at all. its just an imperial construct. it has nothing to do with god at all.

Some argue that Islam is tool used for Arab imperialism..

Actually, that's where you're wrong. Islam actually allows people to question the Quran and Hadith, the logic being that Islam is confident that it can weather any criticism and explain every controversial subject.

A reformation doesn't mean that Islam has to change, the only thing that has to change is how it is interpreted. The two are completely different.

I don't think you've actually read the Da Vinci Code, otherwise, you wouldn't make such a comparison. Besides, The Satanic Verses are a completely different situation, as it is making a mockery of people's beliefs, whereas the Da Vinci Code does no such thing.

Yes, I have read both The Satanic Verses and the Da Vinci Code. I tend to follow Mr. Ahmed Deedat's way, don't get angry for no reason, read and learn.
