What's new

Is Turkey a bad model for Arab states? Or is it a good model?

from the actions of today's Arabs including your comments, seem to like being slaves of Turkey, or the West. When the Arabs return to Islam, I will respect Arabs again.

Any nation not superior than another nation.. But obedience and loyalty to Caliph are a Islamic morality.. I think that Turks was the most obedient nation to the muslim leaders.. But i suppose you some Arabs (or some Turks) see the obedience as a slavery.. Ottoman Empire demolished since 100 years.. We all free now under the yoke of Westernians.. Please yourself..!

.
Ofcourse Turkey is not a good role model. The way the turkish authoritives have treated the Kurdish identity is despicable. 30 million Kurds deserve their own state. The military has too much power in Turkey and secularism is shoved down people's throats. Thanks but no thanks.

Will you give the permission for independent state to the Uzbek Turks or other nations in Afghanistan?
(Note: There is 7 millon Kurds in Turkey and big majority of them want to live together Turks.. I suppose you are ailing than this situation)

Uzbeks are not indigenous people of northern Afghanistan. Many of these Uzbeks came to Afghanistan because of when Soviet Union invaded Uzbekistan in 1920s. Anyway their number is about 1-2 million so they don't deserve their own country in Afghanistan. Northern Afghanistan is the domain of Tajiks (indigenous) not Uzbeks. But you can't compare the uzbek situation to the Kurds. Kurds are not 7 million in Turkey, thats a big lie to say the least. Kurds are the indigenous people of that land are older residents of that lands than Turks who are only there for 1000 years or so. Anyway Turkish people of Turkey are mainly, Anatolian, greeks, Armenians, and other nations who have adopted the Turk identity because of Turkish dominance. Only about 10-15% of Turkey have Turkic roots as proven by various DNA tests and surveys. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see Turks of Turkey andn Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan are vastly different.
Let the Kurds decide themselves what they want, as you can see in northern Iraq they rather want to live autonomous rather than live in country with Arabs. I am not saying kurds should have a seperate country but at least give them their rights to practice their culture and speak their language and live as they want stop pushing this "Ataturk" kemalist agenda down their throats. You are no one to speak on behalf of Kurds. How do you know majority of them want to live under the Turkish republic?
While ofcourse kurds and Turks wouldn't mind living as neighbours, its totally different when Turkish republic tries to oppress the Kurds by lying about their numbers and supressing their language and identity.

@ shapur,

Let Hazaras, Uzbeks, Tajiks decide for self- determination. Afghanistan is not a nation state, but an artificial entity, therefore it can be divided. Let Pastoons have their own land, considering that you are Pashtoon.

yes of course why not?
The thing is though that the situation is a little more complicated. Hazaras are shia while uzbeks and Tajiks are sunni. To add to that is the fact that Hazras are Mongol-Iranic mix, Uzbeks are mainly Turkics while Tajiks are Iranic.
I agree that Afghanistan's border were decided by colonialists just like Turkey, pakistan, Iraq and many other countries. Countries like Jordan did't exist before colonialism. Turkish republic is also a false entity based on a false identity. Turkish identity is not native to Anatolia or western or eastern Turkey.
Afghanistan is not like Turkey, there is no strong army who push their agenda down people's throats. Afghanistan's different areas have always been autonomous through out history. Tajiks are free to speak their language infact majority of Afghanistan's lingua franca is farsi (language of tajiks and hazaras). Uzbeks are free to use their language and create their own TV channels and they can be even thaught in Uzbek language in schools. There are no restrictions like in Turkey where until recently Kurds couldn't even broadcast in their own language.

So you are comparing Turkey with Afghanistan im terms of human rights.

And yea, we re goddamn colonists.

I know the situation in Afghanistan. And Afghanistan is destined to stay as "Afghanistan" because of his multi ethnic multi cultural background. You and the other sides will continue to kill each other in the decades to come. that's not a model which I desire for Turkey.

For Kurds in Turkey, check your numbers. There is no 30 million Kurds. The number is often shown 12 million with Zazas included. Zazas are not Kurds, they are pro state different ethnic group.

no I am not comparing them. We are discussing the issue of Turkey being a role model and I just listed my objections as to why Turkey is a good role model in terms of how the Kurds are treated in Turkey. Ofcourse human rights violations happen everywhere but that is not the topic here. We are focusing on Turkey.

When I said colonialists, I meant, british, french and other western empires.
