Is there a reason that women cannot take undergraduate in Aeronautical Engineering at NUST?

I just read this today, and I checked it from NUST website as well. This deeply saddens me considering the fact that NUST is considered one of Pakistan's most high-end engineering universities, and they don't allow female candidates to apply for Aeronautical Engineering.

Is there a reason for this?
Is it because the department of Aeronautical Engineering is attached to PAF Base Risalpur, which is one of the high-end colleges of PAF? Do women not take up various jobs and fields at PAF Bases? What is the reason?

If it has something to do with PAF Risalpur, then shouldn't NUST immediately transfer the necessary equipment and department to its Islamabad campus.

What is happening in NUST is confusing. First we heard harassment cases, then we heard that these cases are being suppressed and the news is being kept from reaching public, and now checking on this.

As per the recent ad of PAF, there was no such condition for candidates who were seeking commission in Aeronautical Engg Course. However, in Special Purpose Short Service Commission (SPSSC), only male candidates were eligible to apply who had done Mechanical, Aerospace, Avionics, Electronics, Telecom or Computer Engg.

Now, if one wants to pursue these degrees as a civilian, I cannot comment on the rules. Perhaps a call to the Dean or concerned deptt. would clarify the matter at hand.

It is possible the seats for female candidates at the Risalpur Campus are only confined to the female cadets selected for Aeronautical Engg. Course.

For Risalpur, only paying cadets (PC) or military cadets already selected for the services are allowed. The eligibility conditions you have mentioned are for civilians in that military institute. From what I know, PAF has females including as engineers so it is incorrect to deduce no female is allowed in its institutes.

This is misleading as females who are military are allowed, this is for civilians and only taking in males -- I know this as I have a relative (female) who's engineer with Air Force and she went to NUST, her other sister isn't military and was routed to COMSAT both are completing Mechanical Engineering PhD. The one in COMSAT is most likely to come to the U.S. soon as she applied and was accepted in UC (University of Chicago).

That is odd... there are more females in Univ. in Pakistan than males now... odd. Must be an admin error.

Then NUST should separate its AE department from the PAF Base Risalpur. This is high discrimination. NUST is a top engineering university for every Pakistani who has merit and means to financially support their education, it should not be deciding their majors on the basis of their gender and whether or not they're in the PAF.
