What's new

Is the KMT completely dead now?

. . .
It won't. After DPP's terrible performance in office, KMT will be back 4 or 8 years later.
The situation of DPP was even worse back in 2008.

Exactly. Chinese Tiger doesn't understand electoral cycles.

What China must ensure to do to bring back KMT in office the next time is that they must ensure that Taiwan's economy suffers under DPP. This will make sure that KMT will come the next time around.

KMT,died in 1949.

The Chinese KMT lived from 1894 to 1949.

The Taiwanese KMT should live from 1949 to 2016.

When DPP won, then there is no more ROC, the PRC will take Taiwan between 2016-2020.

The DPP could summon ghouls from their graves with their incompetence and chicanery

Better to switch your allegiance to the PRC which is your true motherland.

Don't you want Taiwan to be ruled by PRC?

Whatever is best for Chinese interests- but a conflict would be an all-around disaster and a victory for the West.

DPP could push for an immediate unification, even @TaiShang knows that.

DPP is actually more pro-unification than KMT.

KMT is completely pro-USA, so don't trust this party.

While CPC is doing everything for China's hegemony, so this kind of ambitious regime can never be pro-USA, because it is directly against the interests of the US.

I do understand the electoral cycle since I currently live in Canada, but the situation is completely different in Taiwan.

Everybody in Taiwan knows that if the KMT loses badly this coming election, then it gonna be split into many smaller parties, and this is not merely a bipartisan issue.

The KMT will eventually be forced to completely assimilate into the Taiwan political sphere which is aimed for an independent Taiwan.

KMT is always fighting with CPC over the legitimacy of being the ruler of China, but after this election, they gonna even lose this last bit of "legitimacy".

You are not Chinese, that's why you cannot understand the geopolitical sphere in China.

The political viewpoints of DPP at present, or at least their pretended viewpoints is the recognition of ROC.
They know if they want to win the most votes especially swing votes, they have to hide their claims of independence from Republic of China.

I agree with you, that DPP in office is better for China. If KMT is in office, the unification will never happen.

Neither the KMT or DPP can push for reunification.

The boss is the USA. When the boss says "jump," Taiwan must ask "how high?"

Former Japanese prime minister Hatoyama tried to position Japan midway between the United States and Beijing. The US got rid of Hatoyama pretty quickly. The investigation into Toyota's "unintended acceleration" was a not-so-subtle hint.

Similarly, the KMT's presidential candidate recently suggested that reunification with China was the ultimate outcome. The KMT just got rid of her.

Never forget that the boss is the United States. Any attempt to distance Taiwan (or Japan) from the United States is futile. It cannot succeed today. US economic and military power is still too strong. Any Taiwanese attempt to reunify with mainland China is unlikely to happen for another 15 years. As the relative power between mainland China and the US continue to shift, the political situation between mainland China and Taiwan will slowly change. However, it will take time and cannot be rushed.

The takeaway lesson is: island populations are highly susceptible to brainwashing. Taiwanese were brainwashed by KMT and DPP. It's far too late now. Only 10% on the island consider themselves Chinese ethnically. My preferred solution is launching a medium yield 50 kT nuclear warhead against Tainan with a warning more to follow unless total surrender.

10% consider themselves Chinese only. A further 30% or more consider themselves both Chinese and Taiwanese. Do you work for the USA?

No, 90%+ consider themselves Chinese ethnically.
10% is referred to nationals of China.

0% in Taiwan considers themselves Chinese only. A nuclear strike is the most effective solution to the Taiwan problem. Remember they love Japan especially the DPP so their weakness is the same as Japan.
