it Very depressingBoth. Religion like any ideology can be used for good or bad. What i laugh at is when Atheists blame all religions for the bloodshed when Atheism itself becomes state sponsored( Communism) it has also committed horrendous acts.
it Very depressing
When people just see Atheism in just one shade communism.when atheism or semi-atheism Can also be seen as Humanism. many great personalities like albert Einstein are believers of this process
Is religion a source of unity or division? - Inside Story - Al Jazeera English
It is blamed for wars and discrimination, yet also embraced as a means of resolution and integration.
Religion is the source of many arguments, while some studies suggest it is on the decline.
A conference in Qatar is promoting a message of interfaith dialogue, of religion as a means of global co-existence.
"This is very helpful in terms of breaking misconceptions, all the challenges we have in the peace-building process, the barriers to achieving peace, it is very important that we search for common ground," Rohaniza Sumndad Usman, founder of the Teach Peace, Build Peace Movement told Al Jazeera.
Blaming religion as the cause of conflict is an easy generalisation to make.
Fighting in Central African Republic is between Muslims and Christians; Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims are involved in the violence in Myanmar; the conflict in Northern Ireland had its roots in religion; and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is seen as having a religious dimension.
But in all these examples, there are more fundamental driving forces - be it land, power or nationalism.
So is religion at the heart of conflicts around the world? And do different faiths have the will to work together for a common good?
Then accept Humanism as your Religion be a good human in first then believe to be other thingAny ideology in the hands of few corrupt individuals can turn into something horrible. Human history is full of it. Personally i have nothing against Humanism, i actually admire Humanists and the principles they stand for.

Yes mate if you became an idol human then you will automatically became a idol muslim, hindu, christan ,jew or the otherIf you are not a good human being first then you cannot be a good Muslim either. In Islam there are two important rights, these are rights of God(fasting, prayer and hajj etc) and rights of his creation which include charity, kindness with parents, relatives friends, neighbours, even forgiving enemies and not taking revenge.
if we act exactly according to religion then there is no greater source of unity between humanity than religion but if we use religion then there is no greater source of conflict than religion. Is religion a source of unity or division? - Inside Story - Al Jazeera English

Religion does not unite anybody. Also nationalism does not unite anybody. Only Family values unite people. Nationalism and Religios fanatics using the family values of people to infiltrate their homes and minds.
Yes only for few times like you see in the crusadesno only foreign invasion unites people.
