Is Mig-29 jets Good for Pakistan, For Maritime Attack?

Pakistan can buy 14 Mig-29 jets from Malaysia (Malaysia trying to sell it's Mig-29 jets)

Ukraine can upgrade Pakistani Mig-29 jets, Verkhovna Rada the Defense Industrial Complex of Ukraine is fully capable to upgrade Mig-29 aircraft, Ukraine upgraded 49 Mig-29 jets for Azerbaijan in 2005.

Ukraine & Azerbaijan can train Pakistani Pilots & Aircraft Engineers to operate Mig-29 jets.

buying these would create logistical nightmare for them.....hell it is not even a squadron ......plus their total costs would easily surpass the cost of new jf-17.....however same cant be said about india....but again the case is which mig-29 they are?????

. .
can you please provide a source for this information.

Thanks.

Malaysian MIG29 Jets To Be Phased Out

The MIG-29N fighter jets of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) will be replaced with other interceptor jets.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the matter had been discussed with RMAF chief General Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin and the aircraft would be replaced soon.

So I asked the question from Pakistani friends

Only because Malaysian Air Force is replacing these birds so you thought Pakistan should buy them ?
No brother defense deals are alot more complex then this and don't work like that, there is no reason for Pakistan to buy Mig-29s but on the other hand if India shows interest it would be more feasible for them.

Yes that's a good idea between about IAF preferring this second hand Mig-29s which can certainly be upgraded to IAF's standard.

So its not good for us !

Depends upon your force and mission profile for which Mig-29s can be employed. It is good but at the end of the day, there must be sufficient numbers to form atleast three squadrans of the same which is a general strength of any fighter jet in PAF inventory.

.
MiG 29s are dual engined platforms! which becomes a budgetary nightmatre for a cash starved airforce like the PAF! we are better off with single engine platforms like all our frontline fighters!

.
I think we shouldn't go for the Migs. Having too many different types are not a good Idea.

J-10 and J-11B from China is better option then Mig29.

Firstly, dual-engine aircraft is not PAF's cup of coffee (well so far).

Secondly, as other fellow members rightly pointed out the costs of maintaining, upgrading, and training fleet for a platform for which they have had absolutely no experience with, will seriously undermine the cost/benefit ratio as per a similar investement in JF-17.

Thirdly, IMO PAF is more likely to buy only F16's as far used aircrafts or phased out aircrafts are concerned because of their obsession, training, maintainance and the existing required infrastructure with that system.

.
with indias fast depleating IAF fighter strength, india may consider these MIG 29, also Mirage 2005 of UAE. it will give good help until MMRCA & LCA inducts in good numbers.
