Strange, I didn't know that we have changed our flag.

A decision by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague, which is considering a motion filed by the Philippines challenging the legality of China’s nine-dash line, may end up in Manila’s favor. This would help Asean, even if China rejects that verdict. But to make the most of such an opportunity, Asean would need to show collective support for such a verdict, and it might help if other claimants, such as Vietnam, also initiate similar legal action.

I suppose i would liken it to a cake symbolism.

If i cut a piece of chocolate cheese cake , and i eat it, i'll love it. If you cut a piece of cherry cheese cake and it it, you'll probably like it too. So when we compare our cakes, i'll say, "i really like chocolate cheese cake, Viet my friend." And you'll say to me, "Oh that's nice, but I particularly enjoyed my cherry cheese cake, Nihonjin buddy ol pal!"

So you see preference is based on and influenced upon by exposure. Yes? The Japanese businesses and business folks who invest soley in Vietnam will have positive bias for Vietnam and Vietnamese people, for sure. The Japanese businesses and business folk (like yoshi-sama) who invest in an operate in Indonesia will naturally have preference for Indonesia and Indonesian people. So don't take it as insulting that Yoshi has positive appraisal for Indonesia; its just that he has been exposed to Indonesia and the high capabilities of Indonesia. He also happened to mention that his relative stayed in Indonesia so there's some kind of history relation there.

I do agree with you that ASEAN members are equal and have a role individually contribute to peaceful coexistence, peaceful trade, peaceful resolution of intraregional divisive issues. With that said, there's so much possibilities in ASEAN. We just have to consider the positive contributions and contributory potential of each member. Vietnam has high potential, indeed, and so does Indonesia.

Good ! I see Vietnam and Indonesia as brother civilizations, brother nations. Sometimes they disagree, but for the most part, politically and geopolitically, you both are more similar than you are different. So let's focus on that positivist and constructionist vantage point. :)

meh Asean has losing its way since the end of cold war, originally the five original member of ASEAN create this organization to promote cooperation between them on how to tackle the danger of communism (in the name of North Vietnam) after the fall of South Vietnam and the rising tension between US and Soviet Union at the time. And in spite of ASEAN neutrality, originally this organization has an anti-Vietnam tendency, three member of ASEAN has giving support to the South Vietnam at the wake of Vietnam war till the fall of Saigon (Sg, Ph, and Thailand) and giving full fledged support of Cambodia Khmer rouge regime in the wake of Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia. So the joint of Vietnam has been an irony for this organization.

And you should take a notice, this @Viet folks has an tendency as ultra nationalist Vietnam who will sprout insult towards other country members who dare to challenge his opinion about the great Vietnam. He is known to trash talking member from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Chinese and so on. He and thread opener is kind of same, both have shallow thinking on how this world is working on.

.
Last time i watched a speech by Lee Kuan Yew (SG ex-PM), he even supported this move as it was a threat to the region. Note that back then, Vietnam was/ and is still a Communist, and we were fighting commie in the region

Of course I think it is important to note the comprehensive and totally substantive bilateral framework that Japan and ASEAN cooperates.
.
JP should cooperate with TPP ASEAN members plus PH only, other while, you will have a big loss in your investment . ASEAN with a clown calling himself as de facto leader is just a joke

Just have another TPP meeting at the end of this month and I think all disagreement will end soon :)

Hmmmm. Come on, let's drink tea, lets think of common goals. Okay? :)

. . .
ha ha ha, let's drink to its actualization, first. ;)
i prefer sipping slowly.

When mentioning TPP implementation, all i can see is unending road with faint and blur finish line. But good luck to you and the rest of TPP member. It's just me feeling full reading all the TPP nonsense above. :D

Well, i agree with you in principle, its not good to 'over-glorify' a treaty that has yet to be implemented. Its actually very bad luck, counting chickens before they've hatched.
