I was around for the 70s, and it was a pretty down time in the US, all things considered. The 80s had a much more vibrant tone. The 70s was double digit inflation and double digit unemployment at the same time, with oil shock from the Arab oil embargo and the reverbations from that for years, with the tech industry still in its infancy. Cars were all crap. Seriously, don't by an American car from the 70s, just don't. They are really bad. We had disco and roller disco and 8-track tapes. The president went on national TV to tell everyone we had malaise and needed to wear sweaters, really. Just say no!
