'IRNSS-1A - The Star of Navigation'

By adding more satellites , yes we can .

But we are already a partner in GLONASS , so not required.

Russia friends today, enemy tomorrow. I hope our politicians realize that we should trust no one and build for ourselves.

Is this a spy satellite or only just a navigational satellite??

One never knows. The exigencies that are associated with securing national interests can lead to many twists and turns. Nations do not build friendships beyond rhetoric for consumption by the masses.

On topic, an area of 1500Km around India being covered is a good start, providing immediate depth within our zone of interest. Any further expansion can be dealt with later.

Its a navigation satellite for the IRNSS and that my dear fellow is far more important than any spy-sat.

Suffice to say that our PGMs and stand-off munitions will not require P(Y) code/M-codes in the near future from the GPS or GLOSNASS. And that is important.

India and an area of 1500km around India will be sufficient for our present needs, we can
go adding more coverage radius in future.

India is launching its own system which is good :)
So for what use we are going to use GLONASS? Having both the systems, wouldnt be a headche for military forces?

No, they are easily interoperable. IRNSS will be the best for India as it is controlled by India and will provide best accuracy and will be always available.

IRNSS is a milestone in scientific advancement of India.

Military usage of GPS:

Navigation: GPS allows soldiers to find objectives, even in the dark or in unfamiliar territory, and to coordinate troop and supply movement. In the United States armed forces, commanders use the Commanders Digital Assistant and lower ranks use the Soldier Digital Assistant.[68][69][70][71]
Target tracking: Various military weapons systems use GPS to track potential ground and air targets before flagging them as hostile.[citation needed] These weapon systems pass target coordinates to precision-guided munitions to allow them to engage targets accurately. Military aircraft, particularly in air-to-ground roles, use GPS to find targets (for example, gun camera video from AH-1 Cobras in Iraq show GPS co-ordinates that can be viewed with specialized software).
Missile and projectile guidance: GPS allows accurate targeting of various military weapons including ICBMs, cruise missiles, precision-guided munitions and Artillery projectiles. Embedded GPS receivers able to withstand accelerations of 12,000 g or about 118 km/s2 have been developed for use in 155 millimetres (6.1 in) howitzers.[72]
Search and Rescue: Downed pilots can be located faster if their position is known.
Reconnaissance: Patrol movement can be managed more closely.

The launch will be live on DD from 11:10 PM onwards with actual take off on 11:41 PM. Keep your eyes on TV..... this is a history in making......

Russia friends today, enemy tomorrow. I hope our politicians realize that we should trust no one and build for ourselves.

1.) Russia is a time tested friend of India

2.) We dont have the money to build such a large scale network on our own.... we have more pressing issues!

So GLONASS is fine.

Russians are reliable friends and partners, But S.Asia is the area which needs more concentration and so IRNSS, IRNSS has advantages over GPS or GLONASS in S.Asia and is a tech demonstrator.

THANK YOU CONGRESS FOR GIVING US IRNSS-1A, STAR OF NAVIGATION

Thank you..Rahul Gandhi for sitting in dalit jhuggi and fabricating IRNSS-1A in one night ....without you India would be doomed :omghaha:

VOTE FOR CONGRESS  :closed:

They Give us IRNSS (Our First Navigation System)
