Iran successfully launches new satellite into orbit.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has successfully launched its domestically-built Navid-e Elm-o Sanat satellite into orbit following a decree by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Shaheen-2 uses solid fuel and is not really suited to launch satellites because it is very difficult to have control over solid fuel rockets which is necessary for orbit injection. The best rocket suited rocket for this job is Ghauri based rocket boosted up for satellite launch. Pakistan does have a plan to produce a satellite launch vehicle:
