Wonderful. Unfortunately Iran does a terrible job of maintaining and promoting its historical sites like this. Persepolis, Lake Urmia, dozens of abandoned historical buildings in terrible condition, etc.World's oldest University (700 years old) being restored in Tabriz, Iran:

Maragheh observatory that I covered few pages back is not far from Tabriz and makes sense to have been affiliated..this circular structure is indeed puzzling..seems to have been a base for something.. but my guess is as good as yours. Was that circular structure the base of an observatory?
Wonderful reconstruction..PERSEPOLIS deserves a thread of its own..many Iranians inside Iran should be able to watch these reconstruction videos to understand what our ancestors achieved and why we Persian are so proud of it. Control of half of the known world was done done from PERSEPOLIS.Wonderful. Unfortunately Iran does a terrible job of maintaining and promoting its historical sites like this. Iran should work closely with experts from Italy, Japan, etc to not only restore but also explore reconstructing many of these sites. Who wants to visit that random circular slab of mud/rock? But if it is reconstructed with original materials and advertised correctly, then it could be different.

Indeed. The Getty reconstruction project and website is beautiful. What a shame that we have to rely on the USA to promote our history.Wonderful reconstruction..PERSEPOLIS deserves a thread of its own..many Iranians inside Iran should be able to watch these reconstruction videos to understand what our ancestors achieved and why we Persian are so proud of it.
