MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - An Iranian Earth remote sensing satellite will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Tuesday, August 9, the Russia State Space Corporation Roscosmos said.

"The Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle equipped with a Fregat upper stage is scheduled to take off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to place the Qaem Earth remote sensing satellite into orbit for the Islamic Republic of Iran," Roscosmos said.

"Along with it, the Russian CubeSX-HSE-2, "Monitor-1", UTMN, CYCLOPS, Siren, "KAI-1", "Kuzbas-300", Skoltech-B1, Skoltech-B2, Polytech Universe-1, Polytech Universe-2, Vizard, "Geoscan-Edelweiss", MIET-AIS, ISOI, and ReshUCube small satellites will also be put into orbit," the corporation said.

The Iranian satellite has been developed and built by Roscosmos enterprises, it said.
I thought it was called Khayyam?

Good to have some pictures in the interim but nothing to be proud of until we make our own sat with 1 m resolution.

We cannot be happy with these things. We are not Turkey or UAE.
Yes!

.
what we need is to be able to send our military satellites to leo asap and in large number. we really need that satcom capabilities for our drones and aircrafts. if we wan't mature the datalink we are testing and developing it has to use some type of satcom

It's also carrying 16 other satellites.

Iran wouldn't have needed Russia to carry Khayyam if Rouhani hadn't shut down Iran's space program for 8 years.
We could've already deployed Soroush by now and carried even heavier payloads than just Khayyam to higher orbits.
You live and you learn,sadly.
Hopefully iran now has access to much better technology ie the 4d10 and quite possibly the rd-250 liquid fuel rocket motors, tho just as with the nuclear program the main thing will be the requisite political will,as without that absolutely nothing gets done.
But having an indigenous slv capability is a vital strategy necessity for iran, because its pretty clear that relying on anyone else for both the manufacture of your satellites and placing them in orbit is at best a very risky endeavor.
