Iranian Space program

Again premature shut down or too low thrust of the second stage, like the last time.
Did one of the two turbopumps fail? Or one of the four motors did a safety shut down? A software error that shut off the second stage?

No Saman thrid stage was present, they wanted to keep it simple.

Maybe the R-27 venier motor is simply not suited for that long vacuum operation, as it should be significantly longer than on the Safir. Did the extension nozzle skirt fail due to overheating? Because that can't be well simulated on earth.

Maybe it would have made it with Saman 3rd stage, but it seems that has its own problems.

End of the day the Safir and Simorgh platforms will go down in history as the worst success/fail SLVs ever to be fielded by a country.

It seems Iran knew this long ago, the lack of launches was evident of that. They were simply waiting for next round of SLVs to be ready. Seems the Simorgh launches were nothing more than data collection on 1st stage and attempting to create a viable 2nd stage.

Shame, 10 years down the drain playing around with toy rockets.

Sad that Space Program gets such little attention, but the Republic throws tens of millions if not hundred million each year to Palestinian militant groups so they can fire bottle rockets at Israel, on top of the Billions of dollars that gets “lost” to all the corrupt factions that make up the Republic.

Anyway at least we are seeing some long overdue new SLVs being developed.

Simorghs core is its first stage that has worked flawlessly.

The second stage is just a Safir x 2 that burns longer. That tech. is already dead and has no growth potential.

But Simorgh first stage is so "over-thrust" that it's mastered product will be used on the Sarir and the Sarir will have a new second stage with new motors.

That's how it is done, step by step. Criticism is that pace is slow, founding low and the second stage technology of the Safir was already at its limit with the Safir... tweaking the last bits out of it may bring experience but not reliability.

In conclusion: Simorgh is not a commercial SLV, its a first stage tech demonstrator for true SLVs, Sarir and Souroosh. What a waste to use a 150t thrust stage for a 85t vehicle, makes no economic sense.

If that is the case it might do for Sarir but eventually Iran needs a more modern engine for its 1 stage program (liquid).

How many different diameter liquid fuel missiles do you see in that video? And it's not just the engine that's been modified but also the type of fuel

Yes,and thats where the rd250/paektusan is going to have to come in as even redesigning the simorgh first stage to use the khorramshahrs 4d10 submerged engine is only going to deliver very modest improvements,due to its more efficient fuels,at best.

Rather 4 Ghadr motors plus 4 Iranian designed veniers with their own turbopump.
Getting that whole configuration to work is not easy.

Cost of a "commercial" class SLV also always play a role.
150t thrust is what Russian Kosmos-3M employed to bring 1,5t into LEO.
So if thats the goal and you have ample supply of Ghadr motors in the future, why would you switch for something that is potentially more expensive?
Irans goal is a 1,5t LEO SLV, the Sarir, its first "commercial" SLV and the Simorgh is the tech. demonstrator for it.

And the 1st stage booster of the Simorgh has had 3 consecutive successful launches and the Simorgh is an SLV that only cost Iran $3.5Million USD so I really don't see how anyone in their right mind could call it a failure since the experience gained in 4 cluster engine + 4 fairly powerful vectoring engines will allow us to build larger clusters in the future based on requirement. So just imagine what they could do if they were budgeted for a $10-30 Million USD launchers.

It just shows you how desperate they are in their petty desperation to score any points against Iran. This should make Iranian resolve much stronger in succeeding in its endeavours.
