Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

You are always critizing Iran...always sceptical....

If you are iranian you must be happy what your country is doing, it s very proud.

So, you are not happy with on aircraft carrier you need also fragates and destroyers..... Iran has other doctrine, why do you need sitting ducks to be near an air carrier with 100 warplanes that can be operating all the journey and protect the carrier, you only need to carry a lot of fuel, and ready.

US print dollars and this because they can have ducks along their 12 carriers,... but Iran is more wise that only printing money...
Iran's ultimate goal for navy is to have a blue water naval force as stated by naval cheifs in several occasions..having an aircraft carrier is probably somewhere in there towards the end.
Considering that Iran's primary enemy is USNavy the no1 asset that Iran should field at the present time is submarines of various sizes.. any surface vessel will be easy targets for the US navy if they venture out too far in the sea. Out in the blue waters you need many more assets to protects your surface fleet so an aircraft carrier for now although within Iran's technical capability will have to stay close to the shoreline..In the Persian Gulf Iran already has three aircraft carriers called G-Tonb, L-Tonb, and Bu- Moussa..
I paraphrase a statement that I was personally told by a western naval expert...
" western navies can handle any air or surface threats..it is the sub-surface threats that they loose sleep over".

Iran building an aircraft carrier is joke of the century.

Iran hasn't mastered the production of light 1200 ton frigates with VLS and still takes 10+ years to build those without VLS. still no submarines with AIP. etc. let's return to reality

not to mention iran doesn't need an aircraft carrier and has never tried to project force around the world in such a direct way
Iran is already producing civilian ships large as carriers, and it has large ship building infrastucture...but everyone should have in mind that this project is,as IRI Navy commander said,ON AGENDA...it means probably,Iran will first build larger destroyers,submarines...etc...Carrier needs protection, which mean 5-6 ships and two submarines in group...So I dont expect Iran start with carrier project in next 10 years at least

Iran builds Aframax tanks which yes in length maybe as big or bigger than some carriers but their superstructure can get sunk by a single CM.

An aircraft carrier by design is extremely hard to sink. It is created in such a way to basically be able to float despite immense damage.

So they are completely different engineering feats when it comes to internals. Not to mention any aircraft carriers based on traditional design will likely cost Iran $1B if not more to build. Waste of resources.

Better to build large bombers with 2000KM-30000KM range than an aircraft carrier. A B-2 bomber can travel 6000 miles without refueling.

I said Iranian Navy, this is IRGC Navy

in 10 years we are lucky to get one mouj light frigate with VLS let alone to start aircraft carrier (not a former cargo ship with a few small drones placed on top)

. . . .
Well if irgc have ships with vls it means the knew how is already there
know how means nothing if it isn't used

I repeat, show me one ship in active service in the Iranian Navy with VLS

This is playing with words for nothing at the end

Show me which ship in active service in the Iranian Navy has VLS

Original quote:
Iran is one of the 5 countries that build its own VLS without importing already-made warships
Even by playing with words with IRIN, IRGCN, the statement still holds, Iran is one of the few country that has multiple VLS active ships while it has been implemented since less than a year on two ship class which are in production. Without importing already-made ships

The technology handled since less than a year without foreign assistance, don't expect Iran to immediately produce 2500 ton warships with 60 VLS cells not even a year after the initial project has been made for IRGCN

Iran isn't China that can produce multiple destroyers in some year or some US allies having ToT and ship building foreign assistance 24/24 7/7 for being dependent on them

And means that Iran has the knowledge to apply it on an IRIN project. This is the same discourse, Iran isn't doing anything because our good OSINT experts are seeing nothing on Google Maps, that the achievments and upcoming projects of Iran can only be "confirmed" by seeing them on commercial satellites

LOL, certainly, some iranian users and other needs to see through OSINT things, this is a poor mindset.

I suspect iran has many technologies to disposal, but in a great part it s being restricted by themselves, and also commits the error of being traditional...

The real costs iran must face is abouy any asset they have to obtain abroad, all the other costs must be reduced and can be reduced. If you need 500000 workers to make 100 boats/year, just simple put 100000 iranians/allies countries people to work on it.

Iran cannot have the minset of a western country, if China would do that on the beginning, wouldn t begin the power is today.

The Battle Group doctrine is followed by China-India-US-Russia-France and nearly every country in the world that built an aircraft carrier. This concept goes back to ancient antiquity when armadas were built. Bigger ships had smaller more nimble ones defending them. It’s basic military strategy.

But Iran has found a new way? Really? Are they going to use UFOs to protect the carrier? In fact Iran has NOT found a way. The Solemani ship is a testament to that. It’s an air defense ship ment to protect vulnerable frigates like Mowj class as well as small IRGC vessels that cannot defend themselves from saturation attack.

Lastly how is fixed aircraft going to fight off swarms of CMs and BMs trying to sink the mothership? This isn’t WW2 when the main threat to a carrier or big destroyer was dive bombers. It’s 2023.

Cruisers that follow aircraft carriers are usually carrying major air defense systems including the naval version of THAAD. They are basically floating air defense batteries ment to protect against the group from major attack. So they are far from “sitting ducks”, they are the shield of the battle group.

This OSINT thing with Google Earth is really annoying sometimes, it has its advantage but also its cons affecting people mentally

Seeing some "unseen" things on google maps or whatever commercial satellite is a good thing

But when people starts to swear only by Google Maps concerning "confirmation that a product is in service", example Bavar has not been seen by our fellow OSINT, so in the mind of some people, Bavar isn't deployed at all in the country

Another example, shipbuilding, swearing only with leaked pictures or some people passing by taking photos and Google Satellites, if there isn't photos or google map """proof""", then Iran is forcibly doing nothing and not producing anything.

Like any country in the world, i doubt the most sensible projects and projects in general wants to be in the middle of the desert in public near a highway without a roof that anyone can see using the cheapest satellites available

There is no problem with OSINT, but it affects people psychologically on whether X is doing something or has deployed something or not when it means nothing at all. For example Fattah and K-4, not a single OSINT saw something, some cancer OSINT thinks they are gods because they are seeing a parked F-14 in Ispahan or a S-129 parked here.

Bavar is a massive multi piece system that must be transported via public highways. S-300 and other air defense systems are filmed being transported across Iran by ordinary citizens.

Yet in a country with 80 million smartphones, im supposed to believe in last 18 months not a single Iranian citizen has managed to see a massive air defense battery being moved on a highway? That is why conclusion is Bavar is likely deployed in low numbers and largely static deployment.

Not to mention when leader of Iran travels to different regions of Iran for highly public speeches, it’s an S-300 battery that follows his movements not a Bavar system.
