Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

Near the end, one of the kilos is seen in a parade; is this stock footage or recent as there was discussion a while back suggesting all 3 might be undergoing over haul or maintenance of some sorts and might be out.

The one indicated in green should be the first block for the new destroyer, it could be the perspective made by the video, but it seems very, very large, so much so that you could already imagine the dimensions when the destroyer is completed.

You’re referring to the Persian gulf training ship? I hope they have distributed production facilities so that they can build such segments in parallel and thus speeding the completion considerably.

Could be Persian gulf or could be the other two destroyer concepts. But Persian Gulf was supposedly already started.

It’s definitely not a trimaran hull, thus safineh can be ruled out. And if it’s not something else entirely then it has to be loghman destroyer or most probably loghman trainer.

ship indicated with the red arrow deprived of all the superstructure that was placed on the dock of the shipyard (second photo indicated in red) next to the Makran 441

what hypothesis could occur:
1) on the hull of that ship indicated in red they are making modifications for military use, but with radical transformations, for example a continuous bridge and lateral command deck as in aircraft carriers / LHD ?

2) or will its superstructure resting on the dock of the shipyard be partially reused to finish work on the Makran 441?

Another advantage of twin hull design is they can be used as a mothership using the space between the hulls. If the vessel is stealthy it can get close enough to release the attack boats that it carries.

For example a midget sub might have 400km range and they are sufficient for coastal defense but the range would be many times more being carried by a swath / catamaran ship and can attack enemy submarines without risking the main ship and itself being small and much less detectable by other ships as well.

It can also carry stealth boat-hovercrafts in my opinon for surface anti-shipping or scout missions. They are short range defensive assets but by being carried by a mother ship they can defend much longer ranges.

Also bladeless fans can make the hovercrafts more stealthy. It is already started to be used in drones.

Smaller twin hulls can carry drone versions of submarine and boats for scout-target detection. Larger twin hulls can carry manned variants for attack roles.

Seems CIWS installed

I think it's the ZU-23-2 covered in a protective tarp

Not to mention this would need at least 2 CIWS on each side of the middle of the hull.

Or else if a sea skimming cruise missiles is detected too late, a CIWS located at the front deck of the ship has no chance to intercept and ship is going to get destroyed.
