Iranian Ground Forces | News and Equipment

I’m curious why anyone wants Aras.
same reason why many countries choose to also buy those TATA vehicles and buses that dont always look great- they are good value for their cost + Oman has good relations with Iran so this deal could be strategic, OR Oman really did the deal for the drones and the vehicles was a way to order stuff from Iran while not pissing off US. Oman basically didnt buy offensive weapons from Iran that would've "pissed off" the USG.
Not even Iranian military has 1,000 Aras (latest gen version).
I'm not disagreeing with you, but what makes you so confident of this?

Most of Iran uses Aras-1 and A-2 and is not yet the standardized vehicle of Iranian armed forces. Still plenty of Toyotas and Safirs and other vehicles. Iran doesn’t really have a Humvee equivalent yet (sufficient armour protection). It has shown of several MRAP models and numbers for those are disputable, but still no sufficiently armoured humvee like vehicle. That and a new generation APC are strangely missing from Iranian ground forces inventory.

A-3 supposedly only went into the “Iranian term” of mass production a little over a year ago. In fact I can’t even find a picture of it, only the civilian version.

This is A-2

Iran has plenty of Humvee level (and above) MRAPs (Toofan, Raad), they are beyond just models but they are not produced in decent numbers.

It's a bit embarrassing that we saw Iraqi PMU forces with more Iranian Toofan MRAPs in service than we have ever seen in Iranian service

Even the Rouintan is a much better option than the ISIS-level embarrassment called Aras

Iran should have kept those Toophans for its own military, maybe given them to border guards. Honestly they should have given the Iraqis Safir jeeps or something. They should probably produce more Toophans. Seems like a decent platform. What's wrong with the Aras ? They need to mount an automatic 30 or 50mm autocannon

Take a look at this 50 ton beast the Chinese have produced. It has a 100 mm autocannon & coaxial machine gun with third generation ATGM launchers on the front and it also has an option for 2 extra 7.62 remote controlled machine guns mounted on the rear for urban settings.

No APS? That thing is toast in an urban setting.

It has 400 mm of armor all round. That's impressive for any APC or IFV, especially one so large. Bradley has 30mm. An active protection system probably could be mounted on this monster but honestly APS is a bit over rated IMO. It can't protect against mines or IEDs. Also the enemy can use something like the RPG-30 with a precursor round, not to mention Javelin with top attack capabilities or just launch 2 RPGs or ATGMs from both sides. Don't get me wrong. Having APS is much better than not having it but it's also very expensive and adds additional weight to the vehicle.

Who trained these guys ? Walking towards the enemy slowly while they're firing at your position ? Also why is the camera man so surprised ? LOL

Because it’s built on a tank chassis

That’s probably a $10-15M IFV. And can be disabled (maybe not destroyed) with a $50K Iranian ATM. HZ was able to disable Merkava-4 during ‘06 war with soviet era AT missiles.

Also large size works against it in tight urban settings by reducing mobility, stealth, and maneuverability. Iran’s recently unveiled smart AI image recognition guided long range AT missile would tear this thing to shreds.

High price tag of this IFV + no APS = waste of money

Your special "UK NATO Training camp", as they say, they will fight until the last Ukrainian, whether 18yr old force conscripted boy or not, i would not be even surprised if there would be soon be reports of underage Ukrainians fighting there at this point

And who knows, he maybe had enough...
