More or less.

Some speculate that the Karrar has TOT from Russia incorporated within the design although the Karrar tanks themselves and a mix of upgrade domestically built T-72s brought up to a Karrar standard and a smaller batch of Karrars produced from scratch.

They're pretty good tanks by the looks of it but not that many will be built I don't think. Iran's current mass-production focus lies elsewhere.
The original T-90s didn't have that turret extended that far in the rear until introduced in the T-90M, I'm for sure looks like it is. Wanted to confirm since most of you guys probably would know and followed closely on the tank program.

Right now the Russians have introduced the T-90M into Ukraine so lets see how well it performs. They don't have that many.

Iran doesn't have a pressing need for a potent MBT due to the fact that their really isn't any danger of large-scale invasion outside of border skirmishes and the like.

Best for Iranian ground forces to field and deploy (actively) as many MRAP type vehicles or any APC in order to bolster border forces which still rely heavily on Technical vehicles (small pick-up trucks with machine guns attached to them). I think the drone aspect has been taken care of though.

Iran employs thousands of UCAV/UAV assets that can be rapidly deployed to deal with problems.

Issue is lack of APS like a trophy system.

You can field the best tank, but If your only defense is laser jammer and aerosol, you won’t survive long especially the way Russians and Syrians fielded them charging in usually by themselves.

A Trophy system + an automatic counter fire system that detects direction of fire would drastically increase tank survival rates and most importantly crew survival.

Better to lose 5 tanks then lose even 1 crew team.

Part of the reason their is no production yet, might be because of the maingun, and the fact that we have no proof that it uses the T-90 or T-90MS main gun. If it uses the original T-72 gun then I can see why they haven't produced it yet.

What. Karrar entered mass production back in 2020, where we saw a bunch of pics of them in the factory. It's already been seen in service and has repeatedly been seen on tank transporters being sent to various units. 2 were in the exercises back in December. They probably took the 2A46M from the T-72S but copied it with stronger materials

No mass production. Have you ever seen 2 of them lined up together in any of the recent exercises?

Their were 2 separate tanks at the last exercise, albiet not together. We saw one on a truck being sent to the Azerbaijani border last year. We saw a bunch lined up a factory in 2020. We've seen tons of pics and videos of them at bases and on tank transporters repeatedly for the past couple of months.

A bunch of incomplete turrets is not indication of anything. It's quite clear the Karrars are not mass produced as T-72S are literally everywhere especially in the last exercise a few months ago. The whole fleet there besides 1 or 2 was T-72S and you want to convince me they are mass produced?. They haven't even bothered to show a single picture of a few of them in the same frame, because they don't exist in those numbers.

Can you show me these pics and videos because no one on here has ever shown "tons of them". That one sent to the Azeri border is just 1, and could just be the same prototype as before.

Bruh mass production does not mean the hundreds upon hundreds of T-72S tanks have all been modernized

Rouhani showed up to get his pic taken at the inauguration of the production line, but then it all just seemed to go dark......🤔

That barrel of excrement rohani and transvestite lady zarif would sooner be run over and killed by an english made crap car than support the domestic Iranian automotive industry.

LOL!!
You`re preaching to the choir my friend.
But seriously tho, does anyone know if anything came of it,did it fail for lack of effort,or was it simply just all a snow job from the get go?.

Iran has already showed off an assembly line. Iran is producing a small number a year no more than a a dozen or two. But even 20 a year,in 20 years that will be 400 right ? That makes sense since Iran's military doctrine is based on defense anyways and Iran already has more than 1000 upgraded and well maintained tanks in inventory.

How many times have we seen doubters on this site claims that Iran is NOT producing one thing or another just to see dozens of them later on ?

Like what do they expect for Iran to show the world every single weapon they have ever produced ? and if not they don't exist ? Like come on seriously... "Oh I have only seen so many bullets so Iran cannot possibly have tens or hundreds of thousands of bullets, impossible, where are they then..."

What kind of silly logic is that ? By that logic we should assume that Iran only has a few hundred missiles then since that's all they've shown ? LOL
