Iranian Ground Forces | News and Equipment

the problem , those improvement already defeated in new weapons and more imprtantly the threat is coming from 8km above not something on the ground
Not 8km above but 25km+ (Spike NLOS).
Murricans will equip their Apache - if they really care, with Spike NLOS.
In the end, every Army has some basics.
It's like fitness training you know? :D
There are some basics which works for EVERYBODY and there are some more precise, special case things which are doctrinal. :P
Karrar is important too, better to have a tank when you need it than not to have a tank when you need it's strengths.
There are many situations where a tank is very useful.
Even it's "only hunting terrorists" like the US did in Afghanistan.
The USMC used - minimum, 2 companies of M1A1 FEP Abrams in Afghanistan.
Yes, Afghanistan isn't really a "tank country" BUT there where u could use them, they were really good.
Long range 120mm Sniper rifle and mobile fortress (against Taliban).

.
So what? All I am saying is that clearly Iran's military leadership sees a future for modern MBTs despite the fact that they are developing and fielding their own UAVs and UCAVs. It does not mean that Iran needs thousands upon thousands of tanks, Iran's geography is not suited for that. Clearly Both the Artesh and Sepah have a NEED for Armour that can compete with their foes and are allocating resources to meet that need.
no they just want to modernize the current inventory . what they plan is attack enemy tanks from SKY just look at the number of UAV they order . just look at those numbers is clear to show you what their plan for future wars are . I assure you its not sending tanks in front of tanks . we are ordering and building UAVs , each day we improve ammunition for those uavs and majority of those amunition are designed for engaging\armored vehicles ,we even produce supersonic top attack weapons for our UAV's to defeat systems like trophy .all these point to the fact that iran want these karrar for something else not traditional tank warfare

Believe it or not but both Tanks and UCAVs can and should work together work together along with mechanized infantry, artillery,Air defense, Havanerooz... They all have their role to play on the battlefield and success can only be achieved when they work together like a team.

thats 25km away , 8km is the altitude a male UAV can fly above you when carrying its ammunition
mq-1 7.5km
mq-9 15km
Heron 10km
Eitan 14km
Bayraktar TB-2 8km
Ankai 9km
Akinci 12km
Wing Loong-II 10km
Shahed-129 7.5km

Don't waste your time. He clearly is in the wrong and is grasping at straws.

Original argument: why isn’t Iran investing in new tanks, IFVs, APCs?

when clearly stated that such investments at this time are a waste of resources on a limited military given the low lilikhood of land invasion and survivability of such systems against the US in the new war era of drones and air power....

his argument changes to this:

Iran has developed the Karrar and will be fielding them. You don't like it? Go cry to you mother!

And he has the gall to say I talk like a 12 year old. His argumentative skills are worse than a 12 year and actually more like dementia patient. He forgot what he was originally arguing about or better yet when exposed that his logic is flawed completely changed the argument all together.

Karrar is a low cost modernization effort of T-72 in line with Iran military doctrine. Even Russia is thinking of scrapping troubled Armata project and doing a modernization effort using old soviet tanks with a new turret and armour package and APS system.

Iran won’t be investing heavily in mechanized armor anytime soon. Only modernization efforts till Iran reaches the luxury of having excess money to spend on such projects.

Good video on 7.62mm rifles, SCAR-H here, which is comparable to 7.62mm MASAF (latter likely having lower recoil due to the damper inside the stock)

Tells why G-3 battle rifle was not replaced by 5.56mm Kaybar or MASAF etc. (geography)

build the damn thing for our troops too

. . . . .
Other than the upgraded turret hull, it lacks all the modifications of Karrar which include automated machine gun, laser warning system and smoke aerosol protection system, etc.

Seems like a old prototype sent to Iraq for testing.
Seems like it's more to do with protecting T-72's from ATGMs that have proven to wreck havoc on this era of Soviet armor in Iraq and Syria.

ATGM can still land a hit without an APS. Hull isn’t going to save it if it couldn’t save Merkava tanks from HZ anti tank missiles in 2006.

Hit the tracks and the tank is immobilized then go for the kill shot.

Is their APS on that system?

Seemed like it was mostly ERA and what might look like a laser warning system on the turrent.
