As the Iranian economy suffers more under Western sanctions, does it cause the Iranian public to be more spiteful towards the West or would their anger and frustration turn on the Mullahs?
I would think both. If the government is overthrown, it'll be like the Arab Spring with any new 'democratic' government harboring continual distrust towards the American-led bloc and Israel. Sure, there could be regime change, but everything else stays the same.
I wonder how Israel and the US would react if any successor government for Iran continues to pursue nuclear weapons.
Let's understand this- you think if an Arab spring comes about because of the sanctions, the next democratic government would continue with nuclear ambitions- that lead to the Arab spring. Would that not be defeatist of them, to continue to fester the very reason for the change?
Regardless US and western countries would continue their sanctions or worse. We are not for regime change in Iran, although that would be welcoming to the civilized world to get rid of the mad mullah leading that country. We DON'T WANT that kind of madness to have a nuclear weapon or Iran having one period.
