there is 1 notable country missing in this. a country that has a massive border with, and feels the burden of milions of afghan refugees and the costs and problems associated with it...

Iran has never should any geopolitical interest in afghanistan. But it cant afford to sit around as a passenger while wahabis run around slaughtering shias, Iranian diplomats, and opening terrorist spaces for sauds and zionists to attack.

Correct, however war in Afghanistan is just different. There is a Tajik warlord who is an ally of Taliban and there is indeed a Hazara warlord who has made an agreement with Taliban. Most people don't understand that it is not the taliban in Afghanistan, there are dozens of powerful warlord and druglords who continue to change their loyalties with the right price.
Interesting to note trajectory of the missile. From the look of it, the attacking team was near the periphery of the base. Also this wasn't an RPG.

Fully agreed. Our support for Hazaras was never seen by the media, be sure that they have taken an eye for an eye. No massacre remains unanswered, you can see that in Syria and all over Middle East. Yes, Hazarajat along with Herat will be what they will try to control. Herat will be pivotal to their efforts if they (the Iranian efforts) are to remain independent of other actors. Without Herat they will need to work with many parties and central Asian nations.
