Missile Battery From S-400 System

Iran does not need S-400s and S-500s. People forget the Talaash 3 which is long range with powerful radar. Kudos to Iran. Yes indeed, the S-200 is made very powerful with several upgrades and can launch Sayad missiles

still that useless not stabilized man controlled gun that you can't hit a warship with it while moving . wonder why?

it is only partially true, you have to look at the engagement distance and the size of the opposing ship.
In favor of this configuration, the very low cost, it weighs little, it is easily removable, and when the heavy machine gun is not needed it can be stored below deck while remaining protected from the dangers of sea water.
Method that can also be detected on the new air defense patrol boat in the video and photos when it carried out the missile launch, the heavy machine gun was not installed in the bow.

In most cases it is a secondary weapon, to be used in extreme cases for defense or to keep potential bad guys at gunpoint

Yes. Like when Iran captured those trespassing USA speedboats in the Persian Gulf. It could be meant to be used essentially in a static position and very close encounters. Better to have a larger caliber gun on board for such situations.

I'm talking about the white boats . that gun mainly designed to be used as a light antiaircraft gun on land .
i believe by the advance of air launched missiles and radars that let enemy engage and target you from several time the distance of that gun and the fact that it was designed to be used on land not on sea that you are shaking even while you are stationary , retaining it is questionable specially if they want to use non stabilized version of it

Iran captured them by having more number and surround them. if that machine gun was not there it wouldn't made any different , just some AK was enough to make those Americans surrender
by the way that American boat also had such weapons and it was useless for them (i think it had 2-3 of them)

.
AK-47, sure, but your opponent may also be a pirate/criminal and sees a DShkM heavy machine gun pointing, hearing it fire and whistling 12.7mm bullets from long range, he will probably change his mind about what to do

As the post above mine highlights, a heavy machine gun can be useful in the face of different types of counterparts in a close face to face situation.

These small boats are fine for swarming isolated or civilian ships, and the first VLS usage is interesting, but I am far more interested in Iran producing a fleet of 10-20 Shahid Soleimani class ships with 150km range Sayyad-3 SAM and 1000km range Abu Mahdi ASCM to patrol the Gulf of Oman and Northern Arabian Sea.

Even with 12 of these patrolling the Persian Gulf down to the North Arabian Sea, look at the A2/AD and anti-ship range capabilities (black circles = 150km Sayyad-3, red circles = 1000km Abu-Mahdi ASCM):

Then add to this a fleet of VLS Mouj frigates (developing at a painfully slow speed), the large ships serving as forward bases/support ships (with great offensive capabilities, such as SRBMs and UAVs), 20-30 Ghader midget subs in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, 4 Fateh subs (also developing very slowly) and 3 Kilo subs patrolling the Gulf of Oman and north Arabian Sea, existing AD systems on Abu Musa and other Iranian islands, coastal ASCM/ASBM hidden under mountains ... etc. Multiple layers of AD and offensive capabilities.

The US would be forced to strike from the Mediterranean or Red Sea. And there the newest ASBM assets with a 1500-2000km range can come into play too.

if the bullets actually hit the opponent they have far more effect and as i said the gun mainly made as light anti aircraft weapon

usa also had 3 of it in that incident but it didn't helped them their boat engine has been busted and they knew the only way they have is surrender

there won't be any new moudge ship , if the navy is wise they use the experience gained by those shipyards in building shahid Suleimani class and move to catamaran or the trimaran they showed several years ago

There will be 3 more and the existing ones will hopefully be fitted with VLS retrospectively. After 15 years of working on Mouj frigates they don't have a standard design with standardised radars and weapons and VLS (or even one with VLS in operation yet). Quite a disappointment.

It's not really that complicated: 1500 ton small frigate with Asr and Eagle-Eye radars, VLS with Sayyad-3 and Navab SAM for defensive operations and Paveh/Ya-Ali LACM and Qader / Abu-Mahdi ASCM for offensive operations.

I also forgot to mention Besat 1200 ton sub and the 3000 ton sub project, as well as many other proposals, but given the pace of developments of the IRIN most of these will probably never come to fruition anyway.

Shahid Solemani is product of IRGC-N
Mowj is product of Artesh Navy

Artesh is not getting any Shahid Solemani.

Same reason IRGC has S-129 and Navy has Kaman series

.
There has been some discussion about the lack of radar on the Shahid Solemani.
Iranian reporters have reported that the radar will only be installed starting with the 4th ship.
I would be surprised if this is true, what is the reason for omitting radar from the first to the third ship?
