Judging by the dirt around the casing, it looks like this was a prototype that has undergone testing.

Features:
  • Operational in all weather conditions.
  • 24 hour surveillance, day and night.
  • Capability to create images of locations at distance while having the perspective of being directly above.
  • Capable of monitoring environmental phenomenon like deteriorating soil conditions.
  • Images directly sent to a ground control base.
No specifications or detailed information as of yet. If anyone here knows a radar expert on the forum can they please mention them so they can make a judgement (even if its limited) on the radar's antenna.

Wonder if they showed this used example because its the SAR of the downed RQ-170, in order to send a hidden message to the US.

I doubt it. The RQ-170 SAR wouldn't be in a circular sensor ball, it would be in a stealthy housing.

They probably wanted to show that they have been using it for a while and revealed it now.

Is that glue or epoxy on the casing? You would think they would have cleaned it up before showcasing it!

It was originally a normal SAIRAN flir... Converted to a SAR radar !!!

Prototype ... you know!!!

Seems they didn't want to waste money for prototype!

they didn't bother to clean it either ! :D

Thats definitely the next step. Drones with OE turret and radar :pop:

And the next is something as chinese Wing Loong II with turboprop engine and very serious payload

Btw is that picture in the first post, scan of the radar presented ?

Yes it is the optical picture next to its radar scan result from one of the ports in Kish Island in Persian Gulf to show how accurate it is.

The red dimension mark shows the same length measured in both (450m in length)

Tnx, Arminkh :)

So, the radar is up and running. But, since it is intended for drone deployment weight, dimesions and power consumptions are very restrained and probably, if the radar satisfied general requirements, these three factors are probably steel being improved. Radar brings the drone on whole new level. In the coast quarding or battlefield surveillance. Wonderful

I agree. It is a big improvement to the Iranian drone fleet. Zombies in Syria will have a rough time hiding ;-)

looks very crude :undecided: best analog would be Lynx II

maybe it's not dirt , looks more like Glue

your analogy is probably right as iran might be getting help from Russia in reverse engineering all the parts they acquired before 1979

It seems Islamic republic reached the peak in drones technology!

I wonder what the next step would be?!

the next would be , to see what new technology the Trump administration faps on ;-)

my guess would be that the trump admin. wants to go back to the old fashioned , way of warfare , with their fleet of f-16s and f-15s , it's only sad to see how great nations like iran fap on what israel showcase them
