Kowsar advanced jet trainer
In a ceremony attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday, Iran unveiled the latest domestically-made military products developed by the Defense Ministry, including the country’s first homegrown advanced jet trainer.

Iran has unveiled a new Kowsar (also named Kosar) advanced jet trainer. According to Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, apart from application in pilot training courses, Kowsar can be used for aerial support missions in short distances, and can also carry various weapons.

Kowsar, the indigenous training jet, which has been designed, built, tested and standardized inside the country, has put Iran on the list of the few world states which enjoy such a capability.

The new Iranian Kowsar advanced jet trainer looks like the AIDC AT-3 Tzu Chung aircraft developed by the Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation of the Taiwan in collaboration with American aircraft manufacturer Northrop between 1984 and 1990.

In Fact there is huge differences !

This project has been around since Ahmadinejad era and now it's been unveiled, and that's it. unveiled!
election date!

This looks like crude early prototype model that has been sitting in a hanger.

I wonder if this project got shelved for lack of interest from iran's military branch. With the arms embargo being lifted in a few years, would Iran really want to spend time building a trainer jet?

Babak Taghvaee is spinning his usual :blah:bullsh!t:blah: yet again, according to him 12 iriaf f5s will be scrapped to provide the parts for the first squadron of kowsars, even tho its very obvious that the number of common parts would be very, very small at best and all of which iran should be capable of manufacturing itself.
